I have found myself over the last year remembering Dave more and more as events in life have past. It makes me smile to know that He has been a guide in my life and knowing him only made me stronger and more brave as I ventured new challenges. I was his Assistant in his Pampered Chef Business, and am now a consultant because of him and what he taught me. The day I signed up I struggled with the thought that he was not my director, but I could feel his pride and joy beaming around me like a hug welcoming into the biz; like apart of his business family. I will never forget him and his wonderful words and his hugs that seemed to make everything melt to be perfect. I loved him because he was always so welcoming and comfortable in who he was. Dave will forever be with me, in my heart, and I will see him again. I know he is at peace.

It has taken me almost 7 months before I could make this entry. I was a consultant in Dave's Cluster. When I first met him I was riddled with fear and self doubt about my own capabilities. Dave stood right by my side through phone calls and email support. He touched my life and so many ways. Even today he makes a strong impact. A few weeks ago I was rumaging through my closet for a book to help a friend and I found evidence of his influence currently impacting my life still today. There was a book he had sent me.Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. Inside was his signature and notes he had made as he read the book and determined to make his move to Tucson. Thank God that he did. Because of this I have determined to follow my dream and become an author of Childrens books. Before his influence I would have not thought it possible. Thank You Dave, and Thank You to Dave's family for your love created a loving kind person that touched the lives of so many.
Sincerely, Hollie

I met Dave in the first, extremely uneasy week of school at Villanova and was immediately struck by his humor and his energy. We became friends shortly after, having lived across the hall from one another, and even became roomates in our junior year. We shared many great experiences and had countless deep conversations about everything we could conjure up. I will never forget the trip we took to NYC to visit some friends of mine, where Dave took in that city with all the fervor one could imagine. I am only sorry I did not stay in better touch with him after college, as i am only hearing of this tragedy now. My thoughts and prayers, and most heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones. Dave had the wonderment of a child, the mind of a scholar, and the desire to touch everyone in a positive way. A rare and truly priceless gem indeed. He was truly loved, and will be missed even more.

I just learned of Dave's passing through Villanova's quarterly magazine and am so sorry for your loss. I met Dave the first day of Orientation of our Freshman year and was immediately taken with his kindness and zeal for life. I hope that you all find comfort soon knowing what a wonderful person he was.

I heard of David's passing and was so deeply grieved by the news that it took until now for me to do an internet search to find this guest book. I hope Dave's family is still reading these entries because I wanted them to know how special
Dave was to me.
I knew Dave through Pampered Chef and developed a strong bond with him almost immediately! He was so special that way! I had many intimate chats with him over the years when I would see him at conferences and Director retreats. We would talk of our hopes and aspirations for the future and share our beliefs. As a woman older than he, I so cherished the fact that when I talked to Dave, he always listened as if I was the most important person in the world to him at that moment! He gave his whole self to each word I uttered and always made us Pampered Chef gals feel special in his presence. I will miss what a young, vibrant, extraordinary man he was. What a blessing and a gift he was. A truer friend could not be found than he. I will miss him forever and always.
My deepest condolences to Dave's family and his fiance.

I feel bad for all who lost Dave, especially his Mom. I have 3 sons and so much of what I do is to protect them (the sun, bad food, germs, too much video games, traffic, etc). Losing them would leave an incredible hole in my heart. She raised a son who touched many lives in positive ways. I worked w/ Dave in developing his healthy shows- he was a joy to interact with: so smart and personable- I feel blessed to have known him and offer my sincere condolences to all of his loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have known Dave for over three years. He was my Pampered Chef consultant. I held many parties with him, visited his great clearance events and sometimes just chatted. I saw him about four weeks ago at his garage sale. I am grateful that I was able to see him one last time. His smile, generosity and kindness will be missed.

I met Dave, an amazing self-made entrepreneur in Vail. I found a small plastic baggie weighted down with colorful stones in the driveway of my vacant listing. He was advertising his new window cleaning business and I just happened to need that service.

What a breath of fresh air! Non-stop nice guy, totally professional, hard-working and energetic--I loved referring business to him! And even though I've known him just a short time, I will miss Dave!

I am so grateful for having had the opportunity to meet and develop a special bond with Dave at the young and impressionable age of 14. We shared countless memories that I will never forget – attending the last Indians game at Cleveland Municipal Stadium (with Dave completely decked out in Tribe gear, of course), high school basketball games, passing notes that were folded like origami in class, playing hours and hours of Tetris together in my basement, and hanging out with Marisa, Bonnie, Nicole, Todd, Chris, Jason, and our other friends whenever we could. Another memory that stands out is that Dave was the first person to ever buy me a dozen roses – and at the age of 15, imagine that! Dave’s kindness, warmth, and humor left an impression on me that I know in many ways I still carry today. Dave, you always had such a good heart, and you will be missed much more than you'll ever know.

Dave and I were friends at Villanova. In November of 2001, he came to visit me at the orphanage I worked at in Honduras. He was so enthusiastic about experiencing it all! One day, he climbed high in a tree by the beach and just let the wind blow him back and forth. Another day, he found me hand-washing my laundry on the typical washboard, and he insisted I move over and let him have that experience! Reluctantly, I let him do some of my laundry! =) My favorite moment was when he wanted to have the experience of catching a chicken. He had brought bubbles for the little kids at the orphanage, and the adult Honduran men were fascinated by the bubbles. So, while the Honduran men chased bubbles being blown by two little girls, this tall, blonde guy was chasing after a chicken around them. It was hilarious!! That energy for life is part of what made Dave so very loveable!! My prayers are with your family!

My heart and sympathy goes out to all of Dave's family and loved ones... I will always remember the good times with dave: Hitting baseball's off the Orr's house to play home run derby (Mrs. Orr got so upset at us for doing that), playing basketball at Parkside and Westlake, pregaming before football games at Westlake and grabbing dinner when you would come visit in Scottsdale. But most importantly I will always remember how much happiness and light you brought to so many peoples lives. I miss you bro and I only wish we could have stayed in better contact these last 3 years...

I had the pleasure of attending Westlake High School with Dave. His infectious smile and light-hearted approach to life were always so admirable. It seems Dave kept these qualities about him as he continued to spread his joy to all that he met. My heart goes out to Dave’s family, fiancé and friends. Words will not erase the pain of this great loss, but a moment of comfort can be found in the wonderful memories that so many will cherish.

Dear Charlotte,
I wanted you to know how thankful I am that Dave came into my life. When Jeremy was broken hearted over the loss of his brother, Dave took him under his wing, gave him hope, and introduced him to Unity Church. There Jeremy met Dave's wonderful friends, began thinking in a more positive manner, and for the first time, I saw a spark of life in Jeremy's heart. On Mother's Day, the first one without my beautiful son, Drew, I went to Unity for the first time, completely devastated over my loss. Unity helped me make some sense of my grief and I began to heal. And of cause, this journey lead me to you. I didn't know Dave very well, but his magic touched my family in a profound way. I truly believe Dave was an angel walking this earth. Charlotte, I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

August 23, 2008

To Dave's family I send out deepest sympathies. Since hearing of this loss I have been reflecting on memories of Dave. I have only seen him once since graduating high school with him at a class reunion but memories of playing soccer, having fun, and Dave edging my out in gym runs at Holy Lane come to mind. Even though I haven't spent more then 10 minutes with Dave over the past 10 years it is obvious that he was loved and left greatness with whom ever he touched.

I met Dave when he came into make a deposit a few years ago. Right around the time he was going on one of his trips to Alaska, I had mentioned that I collected magnets, and to my surprise, he brought me one back. I feel so fortunate to have met Dave. He was so positive and funny. I will miss the e-mails and phone calls. I loved it when he answered the phone and said, "Hey Babey" in his own little way. He used to send such the nicest e-mails and he sincerely meant every word. He told us to be positive and to be the best that we could be. to search for the greatest in ourselves. I will miss him very much and I pray for the family and friends that he left behind.

I never met Dave, but have recently gotten to know his Grandmother Irene, who is a neighbor of ours. She always talks so highly of her family and is so sweet to us that I wanted to send Love and Prayers to her family in this time of need. Including Dave. He was obviously loved by many. Try and focus on the positives, and the Love that comes your way. If life overwhelms you at times, remember to thank God for all the "Good" in your life and think about all the people who love you, even from afar. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I first met Dave at a Pampered Chef party 4 years ago and I fell in love with him. I loved him as my own son. I became ill in March of 2006 and Dave had gone into my place of work, when told about my condition, he came right to the hospital and I remember looking up as he said, "hello pretty lady". I began to cry and the medications took me back to sleep. To think this young man cared enough about an old lady to come to the hospital meant so much to me. I'll miss you greatly my "handsome man".
