Don Redondo Obituary

Don Luis Durazo Redondo 1921 - 1996 Hey Pop! What are you and Joe up to. I'll bet you're laying bricks, helping a friend repair his patio wall or welding a broken gate. You don't' have to make it pretty, just make it work. Like you always said "At 90 mph nobody can tell the difference." How's my Aunt Charlotte? What a wonderful and kind lady she was. I'm sure you've already met the new arrivals. Deanna Durbin, the famous movie star from the Golden Age is there. She actually passed over the role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. I remember how much you liked Peter O'Toole in "Lawrence of Arabia". If you have not already, you'll soon meet Esther Williams and Shirley Temple. I hope you have great weather and that you are safe. The world had changed so much since you left. The glaciers are melting and the sea level is rising. People suffer through tornadoes and drought. We cannot take an airplane without worrying about whether some maniacal person might take 200 lived in order to find paradise. I'm glad you don't have to witness all this and that you are cradled in the arms of God. He saw that he had a place he needed filled, saw your tired face and lifted you up. Although you're gone, your presence is always with me. I feel it every day. If for just one fleeting moment I could see your smile and hold your hand for a while I'd give up everything. When I speak your name I speak with love and pride. The tata truck is running fine. Carol bought me a new dog, a puppy who was abandoned when he was 4 days old. His name is Atticus and he is growing up to be beautiful and big and strong. I love that boy. Please keep an eye on him and make sure he is safe when I'm not around. There is a place in my mother's heart which is your alone and which will never be replaced. I believe you can hear me when I tell you about my troubles and strife. I know this because I can feel your touch. I believe that you can see me when I celebrate and smile. I feel blessed because I know you still love me from where you rest. My heart is full of memories and although life goes on without you, it will never be the same. You gave me life, nurtured me, taught me, fought for me, and held me in your arms on Meyer Street; but most importantly, you loved me unconditionally. Lay off with the brickwork and welding. After all, you are there to rest. No matter how long it has been, there are times when I think of you and suddenly it gets harder to breathe. Get some sleep Pop. Con todo mi cariño. Bobby
