Douglas Gavin

"Gadget" to his grandkids and many friends, is taking that final motorcycle ride to a destination free of dementia and mechanical breakdowns. Born in Perth, Scotland, Gavin found his way to Tucson in 1955. He met his love, Mary, cruising Speedway in 1964 and they were married in 1968 (celebrated 55 years in April). He was many things — a mechanic of motorcycles and cars, a welder, an artist, a fixer of anything, a lover of nature, a helper to all in need, and a prolific collector of metal and rocks. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Weis) Douglas; son Gawain (Jenny); brother and sister-in-laws, Tim and Chris Weis; bonus daughter and son, Crissi and Jason Blake; grandchildren, Kieran, Tillie and Ailsa Douglas and Elly and Emmy Blake, and numerous nieces, nephews and chosen family. Gavin was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Archie Douglas; brother, Norman Douglas and sister Vicki Douglas Otto. Please help us celebrate Gavin at one, or all of the following on Thursday, June 8th: 10 a.m. funeral mass at St. Francis Cabrini, 3201 E. Presidio Rd., followed by burial at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd. We will gather at Gear Shifters, 1045 N. Catalina Ave., for a celebration of life (starting at 4:30 p.m.).
