Elizabeth Clark Obituary

Bette (Elizabeth) ClarkBette was the third of nine children born to Bert and Terri Clark on 4/25/1952 in NJ. She moved to Tucson at the ripe old age of six and remained a Tucsonan the rest of her life, save a few years in her early 20's. She began her career working as a cashier at Lucky Grocery Stores while raising her two sons single handedly. While continuing to work, she returned to college with the boys still in grade school. In 1995 she graduated from Pima College with an AA degree in Nursing, at the top of her class. She became a member of Phi Beta Kapa, America's most prestigious honor society for college students. She was a nurse at St. Joe's her entire nursing career, retiring in 2014. It was a surprise to no one, except Bette, that she won outstanding employee of the year at St. Joe's in 2001 and was chosen as one of Tucson's Fabulous Fifty Nurses in 2009. The only people she treated with more devotion and compassion than her patients were her children, Adam,(Winnie), David, and Treva,(Chris). She also spoiled her grandchildren Gabby and Anthony as much as humanly possible. In her spare time, she continued to help others by being a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (3rd Chapter), a service organization of university women. Bette also supported and raised funds for an orphanage in Ghana. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and had a blast with the gals in her group. Bette passed on 9/18/23 at home, surrounded by family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her 8 brothers and sisters, Aunt Cathy, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all who knew and loved her. Donations in her honor can be made to your local Community Food Bank.

Prayers go out to the family. I worked with Bette at Luckys and saw her at abco. Always remembered a face. Always happy and a very nice coworker. So happy she did all those accomplishments...deepest sympathy to those close to her.
