Beloved Gilbert, 1 year and one week have passed since you last opened your eyes, then slowly and deliberately looked at the face each of us at your bedside. Your last look at us, with your eyes brimming full of your unique personality from your beautiful eyes, will always bring us infinite comfort. It is truly hard to believe more than a year has gone by... but as each day passes, we are reminded that you are in heaven with our Father GOD, and with our beautiful mom and dad, my nana, and all the aunts, uncles and cousins and friends who have passed away, too. I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT ALL THE GAMEZ FAMILY WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER, OUR HEARTS WILL BE FILLED WITH ALL THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES YOU GAVE US, AND WE WILL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN IN HEAVEN!!!

So my love, 6 months have come and gone. The kids and I have been through so much but mostly just missing you every day. Everyone says it will get easier, but it does not. I gets harder to remember when I didnt miss you. I love you with every bit of my heart. I can't wait til i am with you again. The only comfort I have is knowing you are pain free and happy. Its been 5months sence u have been gone and we all miss u more and more each day! let me tell u you have a great family and they are so strong! Trying to fight this war day to day without you but they and we all know your there as there angel! rip gilbert g gamez!!

Gilbert you where a great man great to your wife and your three kids and you where the worlds greatest tata. you are always in our hearts. and your family elaine,lil gilbert,mikey,and jess are in my prayers and thought always. you have a great strong family. strong like you!! your grandson will always know your his tata and that you loved him so very much. you where a great person!! and so cool to be around always had something funny to say :) lol
but i promies my family and i will be there for lil gilbert,isaiah and your family.

Beloved brother, Gilbert,it's been 9 weeks today since you left this flesh-bound earth and your spirit went to God who gave it. OH, HOW WE MISS YOU!!! The old adage is true, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone... and now you're gone,but we'll ALWAYS HAVE YOU IN OUR HEARTS & MINDS. How can we ever forget your one-of-a-kind personality, so chock-full of mischief and a love for life?!! I remember my mom telling us about you, only about 2 yoa, following my dad to the bus stop @ Wyoming/12th Ave. I remember the summer of 1964 when we couldn't find you at Disneyland,but after searching for half-hour my mom spotted you on a train ride with a family of white people! I remember my mom saying that if she'd had you and Margie first, she'd never would have had more kids!!! You were definitely a real fireball, a truly dynamic personality that anyone who had the privilege of knowing you will not forget you, EVER!!! I am so heartbroken for you and the Gamez Family. It is a very hard and difficult time, let the peace of the Lord help you through. As for my memories of Gilbert, there are many, but I have to say that I favorite was the love he had for you. I still in my mind hear him calling "Elenaaaa" Hang in there baby! To my husband: You were the strongest, most sensitive man I have and will ever know. I will never let your memory fade. My heart will always remain with you. I miss you so much every day. We spent most of those difficult days together alone, with our children. Many days and nights we held your hand when you were sick and in pain. I know our dear lord took you home because he was tired of you suffering in silence. In the end, very few knew you like we did or shared your pain. I have to admit, I am selfish, I want you back, I cannot imagine facing this world without you ..the one thing that gets me through is someday I will be in your arms again. I will see you on the other side my sweetheart.

My tio will be missed,but at the same time he will always carry on in our hearts.He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.We will always remember him when we hear a George Strait song.We hope the lord has a special place for him up in heaven where he may rest in peace. My deepest and most sincere condolences to the Gamez family. Gilbert and my father had been friends since childhood and thats how Gilbert was introduced to my life. Gilbert was a great man who always made me laugh and who loved country. He will be deeply missed and forever have a place in my heart. May his humor and song put a smile on God's face, as he did mine.

To Elaine,my deepest sympathy to you and your family I was so saddened to hear about Gilbert I used to take care of him when he was on dialysis at desert dialysis south and I had the honor of knowing him he would make me laugh he was great person and I never forget him Im so sorry. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
