Dr. Gilbert could always see the light in the dark. I will miss him, as will everyone else. He was a great mentor and friend. He was that little friendly reminder that life has so much to offer. I met Gordon at Tope Elementary where he gave so much of himself. He shared stories of his past and his thoughts of the present. Later, I became a student of Dr. Gilbert's at Mesa State College. I enjoyed him as a person and as a teacher. He will live on in all our memories for the kind and caring person he always was.

An easy way to judge someone is to look at their family. Some of the best human beings I know are "Little" Gordon and his family, Jennifer, and Sue Gilbert. Anyone would be proud of such a legacy.
I was lucky to be your neighbor Gordon. Thanks for touching the lives of all the Ortiz children in such a positive and loving way. I will always be proud to call the Gilberts my friends.

Dr. Gilbert touched many lives during his tenure at Mesa State. He's known among the physics folk as a true intellectual, but he also was famous for making astronomy and physics understandable and interesting for everyone.
The stories of how he dressed up as Isaac Newton to teach and then pretended that some crazy guy had taken over the class will live on... I'm glad to have known Dr. Gilbert and experienced his enthusiasm for learning. He will be greatly missed.

Dr. Gilbert was a wonderful person and an excellent teacher. Not just in acedemia, but in all aspects of life. No matter what, he always had a smile on his face, a song in his heart and a spring in his step. I will never forget all that he taught me.

Dr. Gilbert was a kind and gentle person. He was so warm to all those around him. He carried so much wonderful knowledge- that he couldn't help but to spill a little onto his students. I loved his teaching styles and the way he touched the hearts of every single student he encountered. I was lucky enough to work for Dr. Gilbert here at Mesa State College for the last four years. He showed me that it is ok to care about others and he also showed me that not all people are bad at heart. He taught me to be strong through the worst of times and to keep my head up at all times. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him- I know I do. I wish the best to all of his family and I am sorry for your loss.

Gordon made such an impact on so many lives - His passion for learning, teaching and the joy of children - will stay with many of us at Tope Elementary - We were fortunate to know his children and he touched so many in his desire to be involved in their education - He continued to volunteer faithfully in my 1st grade classroom - Long after his youngest had moved on...Gordon's an amazing man and he will be greatly missed -My thoughts are with you - especially Thomas - Love, Mrs. Z.

Mr. Gilbert, who should have been Dr. Gilbert, but never said anything about it to me, was my best friend's Dad, while I was growing up, and I remember singing songs, toasting marshmallows, and going camping with him, his daughter, Jennifer, his son, Gordon, and my brother. I remember him as a kind, loving, gentle man, and I am grieved and shocked to learn of his passing. My deepest condolences to his family, and I grieve for the untimely passage of a wonderful man.
