Mr. Lee literally changed the course of my life! He lived and worked in Edmonton, Alberta when the new Strathcona Refinery was starting up in 1974. I worked as a temp secretary for him for about two weeks while his secretary was on vacation. It was a wonderful experience for me as I met Exxon employees, including Mr. Lee, from all over the world.
A couple of months later, I had a call from the temp agency that had sent me to the refinery. They asked me if I wanted to attend an interview to work for Imperial Oil in their Employee Relations office at the refinery. I told them I hadn't applied there. The agency said that Mr. Lee had put in a recommendation for me. I decided to attend the interview. I was hired in 1975 and stayed for 25 years! During my time with them, I was able to take a three year educational leave. I went on loan assignments to the head office in Toronto and to Dartmouth Refinery. I was eventually transferred to Vancouver where I took an early retirement in 2000. Although this post seems to be about me, none of it would have been possible if that wonderful gentleman, Mr. Lee, had not made that call.
Recently I thought of him, googled his name, and found his obituary. In this unusual way, it was heartwarming to reconnect with him!

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have known Henry for 35 years. We share many wonderful memories from those years. Henry was always thoughtful and a true gentleman . We will miss him.

As a former brother-in law and I would consider a pretty much lifelong friend I want to extend our sincere condolences to all of Henry's extended family from all of the Vassallo family.
