Jerry PAUGH Obituary

PAUGH, Jerry Douglas died of metastatic prostate cancer on October 10, 2016 in Tucson, AZ. Jerry was a firearm expert, specializing in historic western arms and modern handguns. He loved creating his own ammunition. He completed two marathons, including the Fiesta Bowl Marathon that he ran in 3 hrs and 54 min. He took pride in his service with the USAR, which he completed while attending Washburn University. He hated dancing, cell phones, and cats, except Charlie, his wife's feline companion that he liked "sometimes". He excelled at grilling a good steak, planning vacations, and was an expert on classic westerns and Gilmore Girls. He thought butterscotch was the best flavor of frozen yogurt and that every day should start with a cup of coffee. He was proud of his two sons, Steve and James Paugh; his daughter, Shane Strickman, and brother, Robert Paugh. When he married Brenda Paugh, he added her children, Gene Lewis (dec), Sherry Ortega, and L Reed Mathis; her brother, Norman Peart, and their families to the long list of people he loved. He adored his nine surviving grandchildren and one great- grand child, and often sang them improvised songs to make them laugh. A Memorial Service honoring his life will take place at Christ the King Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL.
