Johan Gericke Obituary

Johan H. Gericke (Artist Jon Gerik) lost his battle against cancer and passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011. Born April 18, 1935 Johan and wife, Louisa lived and raised their family in South Africa before moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1994. Johan became a proud US Citizen on March 2, 2000. A beloved artist, Jon Gerik, was also known by his African Zulu name-Zemvelo- which means "true to nature". He indeed lived his life true to himself, his fellow human beings and nature. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him even as we continue to celebrate his life and art. He is survived by his wife, Louisa: sons, Jules, Michael and Johan; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Church of Christ, 145 N. Country Club Road, Tucson. Arrangements by SCIENCE CARE. "In Loving Memory of Johan" God knew you were in such pain He knew you would never Get well on earth again You asked him to go Home It broke our hearts to lose you You didn't go alone Part of us went with you… With love God closed your eyes That day God called you home. Jon,I will miss our discussions across the back fence. Who's going to solve the worlds problems now, with you gone? Rosie always remembers you in her prayers. Peace be with your family.

You were the best neighbor on the street. Always smiling and saying nice words to us. I will miss you. Why do the nicest people have to go first?
