Leo McNally Obituary

Leo John McNally, Jr. "Jay" 10/12/1954 - 3/29/2015 Devoted son, brother and uncle. Graduate of Catalina High School, he loved skiing and camping. He disciplined himself to cope with mental illness, and lived a hard but good life. He worked as a commercial bakery deliveryman for more than a decade and took great pride in all his jobs. He loved his family, his house and his truck, possibly in that order. He had a genuine smile and a generous heart. Every Christmas Eve he delivered donuts and egg nog to hospitals and homeless shelters across town. He served more than a decade on a helpline for the mentally ill. His greatest hope was for peace. Son of the late Leo John McNally, Sr., and Therese McCarthy McNally, he is survived by his sisters, Therese Lee Petrey (Mrs. Ernest) of Cleveland Heights, OH, and Kendra S. McNally of Tucson; and nephews, Ernest Quentin Petrey III of Cincinnati, OH, and Charles Lee Gatliff Petrey of Austin, TX. His family is grateful for the care provided by Sabino Canyon Rehab at the end of his life. There will be a graveside service at East Lawn Palms Cemetery Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception with light supper at the family home. The family requests no flowers, but, if desired, contributions to NAMI Arizona, 5025 Washington St. Ste. 112, Phoenix, AZ 85034, or any other mental health support organization. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
