Marco Favela Obituary

Marco Antonio Favela 1938 - 2008 Marco Antonio Favela, age 70, died at the VA Medical Center on Saturday, November 15, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Favela was born on November 8, 1939 to Angel and Lydia Favela. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, after which he settled in Nogales, Arizona, and later in Tucson, where he lived for most of his life. Mr. Favela is survived by Marco Favela, Jr. (son): Alma (Eduardo) Aguirre (daughter): Eduardo Aguirre, Jr. (grandson); Melissa Aguirre (granddaughter): and Adam Favela (grandson); Nathaniel Aguirre (grandson) and Matthew Favela (grandson). He is also survived by sisters, Maria Jesus Garcia, Irma Mendivil, Maria Dolores Garcia, Josie Shestko, Lupita Hanssen and Rosie Cornelius; and his brothers, Hector Favela, Oscar Favela, George Favela, and David Favela. Dora C. Favela, his wife, preceded Marco in death in 2005. His father, Angel Favela, died in 1983 and his mother, Lydia Favela, died in 2006. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS, 2580 S. 6th Avenue, on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to service time.

I was so lucky to get to be able to care for Mr. Favela and to get to know what a special person he was to so many people. I really enjoyed hearing the family stories and getting to know different family members and see what a strong and loving family he had. Thank you for entrusting him to our care. He was such a blessing!

Mr. Favela was a patient of mine at the hospital. He was a very nice man with a great outlook. We all loved working with him in physical therapy. We will always remember him as the speedy little Marine. Semper Fi Mr. Favela.
