Back in the early 1980's, I was walking through a mall in Orange County, Calif., where I lived at the time, and I came across an artist who had a beautiful portrait of an Indian Warrior for sale. It was a print, not the original, but the artist had added some oil touches to the print. The warrior was actor, Nicholas Ramus. I loved it so much and after learning a bit about this actor from the artist, I happily purchased it for $250.00. I was originally from Oklahoma, and I had a 'western' family room, to help me not be so home sick. That nice size portrait hung proudly next to John Wayne, and other heroes of the old West. All these years later, at least 35, try as I might, I haven't been able to make out the artist's signature. If anyone knows his name, I would appreciate knowing. I have loved that wonderful painting. His handsome features, wisdom, and strength were depicted magnificently in all his colorful regalia. I feel like and old friend is now gone, but not forgotten. It's so nice to hear all the kind and inspirational remembrances of Nick Ramus.

It is lovely to see how many people were touched by my father. I am deeply touched, my father gave freely of himself to others in the aspiration of being loved.

I was blessed to be able to work with Nick on the film "The Treasure of Painted Forest" in 2004, and I can easily say that he was the most kind, gentle soul I have ever met. When I knew we were going to be working together on the movie I invited him to lunch. When he found out that I was coming from Los Angeles to have lunch with him, he invited me to stay at his home in Arizona and visit overnight. I really enjoyed Nick and Kaysie's kind hospitality and listening to Nick's stories about growing up and working in the industry. I also enjoyed the time we spent together just hanging out on the ranch. Then, having the opportunity of working on the film with an actor, so gifted and so professional as Nick was an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thanks, Nick. Much love and peace.

I saw many of his movies and I always wanted to be the Indian when playing as a child.
I am told that Nick Jr. lives in San Marcos, Texas. I'm sure he has many wonderful stories to share about his dad.
