RUBIO, Ricardo Was born on January 26, 1949 in Douglas, Arizona, to Manuel and Maria Luisa Rubio, and died in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 68 on February 12, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Antonio (Patricia) of Tempe and José of Tucson. Ricardo was my older brother by 4 years. I can remember to around 4 years old that he was a friend. We played together at baseball, climbing trees and roofs, electric trains, tricycles and then he helped with roller skates and bicycles. He let me help him deliver newspapers when he was 12 years old. We liked treats such as milkshakes and frozen snickers. Ricardo was always there for me and my two younger brothers, showing us how to pitch in baseball, to run like the wind through the desert and fly over arroyos with howling joy and no fear. We would run or ride our bicycles down small mountains and howl with laughter. In later years I was honored to work for him in many different endeavors. I felt lucky working for him because he followed his visions in an honest and powerful manner. He was the opposite of those lambs that seem to be from an assembly line, those that are spectators in life rather than participants in the magic and mystery and love that is what life is. I learned of real freedom and friendship from Ricardo. I learned about giving from him. I remember one Christmas when times were hard. Ricardo was about 18 years old. He showed up on Christmas day from out of town to our parents' home. He brought a ton of records. The music was music that would get a 300 year old to dancing. Even the house danced. Everybody danced. Ricardo, thank you for passing through this planet when you did, thank you for being my friend. Wherever you go, may you receive what you sow; sparks, lightening and thunder of freedom, love, real justice, laughter and and the magical howls that are you. Salud. Your grateful brother who will see you around the bend. I'll damn sure have a jug of holy water (bacanora) to celebrate. Roberto

Ricardo.....I have an ironwood tree that I am going to harvest in your honor. I know how sacred woods of all kinds were to you. Need to find Hillbilly Don to harvest this beautiful tree for you. I know you would have sat on this tree and talked to it....such a spiritual man you were at the core of your light being !
