Richard McAnally Obituary

Richard Lee "MAC" McAnally On December 18, 2015 in Tucson an amazing man was reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Gladys Connors McAnally who predeceased him in 2011. Mac, AKA Dick or Judge, as he was fondly called by friends and associates, was born in Tulsa OK and raised in Casa Grande, AZ. He served in the US Army and then attended the University of Arizona where he played baseball and graduated from the College of Law. He began practicing law in Tucson in 1959. He retired in 1994 from the firm now known as Haralson, Miller, Pitt, Feldman and McAnally. After retiring he continued a career in law as a Judge Pro Tempore with the Superior Court of Pinal County. He and Gladys wintered in Tucson and summered in San Diego and more recently Flagstaff. Mac continued to play baseball and golf. He played catcher in a San Diego summer league until 2001 as well as being a member of the TOTS—the Tucson Old Timers 60+ league—from 1994-2015. Pops or Poppa as he was lovingly called is survived by his children: Jeff (Carol) of Lakeside, CA; Brenda (Phil) of Flagstaff; Gregg (Susan) of Tucson along with grandchildren Hunter, Tim, Connor, Holly and Kasey. Additional surviving family includes his sister Wanda, of Blythe, CA and many nieces and nephews. Mac lived life large in the challenge of the law, sports, friends, good food, social events and most importantly his family. To me, he will always be "Uncle Mac", one of the most interesting, intelligent, friendly, likable human beings I have ever known. He was, truly, one of a kind. He left a wealth of wonderful memories; made the world a warmer, better place. He will be missed.

My dear McAnally family,
I am so deeply saddened to here of your Dad's passing. I was so shocked to here the news from a friend in Tucson who sent me the Obit. Your father just sent me a hand written Christmas letter which I will treasure as my memories of he and your mother whom I loved as I did my own. My heart breaks for your loss. I can still here him call me, "Claudie". I will never be w/o the years of memories I shared w you all and Gladys and Dick. My sadness is only lightened by the thought of the 2 of them being together again. God Bless. With Love, Claudia FitzHenry

To Mac's family --

I was saddened to learn that Mac has passed on. I've liked and respected him since we first met more than 50 years ago. He was a positive influence upon many young lawyers, including myself.
