Robert J. Foley Jr. obituary, 1950-2022, Tucson, AZ

Robert Foley Obituary

Robert Joseph Foley, Jr. was born on April 16th, 1950 in Oakland, California to Robert Sr. and Ethel Foley. He was welcomed into the family by his sister, Pat. Bobby grew up in Walnut Creek, California, a wonderful place where he loved to ride his bike through the hills near his home without worry. After graduating from Del Valle High School in 1968, Bob spent the summer traveling throughout Europe. He returned to attend school at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. In 1970 Bob joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. His time in the military was spent traveling to the different missile silos working as a Missile Electrician Tech. During this time, he met his bride, Linda. After his honorable discharge from the Military, Bob enrolled at the University of Arizona to further his education. This pivoted his career working for the Air Force as a civilian at AMARC, also known as "The Boneyard". While working his way up at AMARC, he was also enjoying his wonderful family life with Linda and their three boys, Bobby, David, and Nick. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his family time while running to 3 different Soccer games with 3 boys all playing at the same time. He was a proud soccer dad and coach which led to his dedicated involvement with the Ft. Lowell Shootout Tournament.   Time flew and Bob retired from AMARC in 2012; however, he did not retire from all the things he loved. Bob continued his dedicated service of over 30 years to Fort Lowell and he continued to make beautiful music with his "brothers from another mother", Johnny and Petey. Bob woke up every morning with a purpose, this was to help everyone and anyone, even cancer would not stop him. He fought hard for all who loved him and won. Bob decided when it was time to leave this world, not cancer!   On August 22nd, 2022, Bob sadly passed away. He is survived by his bride Linda, his 3 sons, Robert III and his wife Juanita, David and his wife Sarah, Nick and his wife Joyce, along with his 6 grandchildren Rob, Robert IV, Alastair, Desi, Alexzander and Jaxson. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Pat, brother and sister-in-law Garry and Rose, his nieces Tami, Vicki, and Bri, his nephew Max and his cousins. Bob was so grateful for the many friends and family who fulfilled his life and his heart.   Come celebrate his life with us at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, located at 300 N. Tanque Verde Loop Rd. Mass will be held on September 14th at 10:00 am followed by refreshments from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Bob was always so supportive of people in his life. Including me, my two girls , my failures and my successes. Not only supportive but what I always loved about him and Linda is they were ready and willing to have fun. Supportive, fun , serious , thoughtful, he set a very high standard to follow and raised 3 very fine son's that as far as I can tell follow closely in his footsteps and so he remains a force of good through his loving family and how they carry out their lives. Love ya Bob

We didn´t get to spend much time with the Foleys. We were neighbors across the street and we would chat and he would help Judy when I wasn´t around. Pics are from our first Thanksgiving there. Family friends can over and Bob invited their kids to join in Football. Great times were had.

I met Bob Foley over 20 years ago at 309 AMARG aka AMARC. Bob used to call me the Kindergardner of the civilian work force. He really was a wonderful co-worker and always helped others to excel in every way possible! As a new employee to AMARC, Bob always made it a point say hello and welcome new employees. He would lead by example and always had encouraging words to share with the organization.
After retirement Bob always kept in touch with my family and always had encouraging words about my sons-especially on the golf course!!

I will truly miss Bob! I am sincerely sorry for your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family !

Even though I´ve only met Bob and Linda a handful of times during my visits with Joyce, they always welcomed me with open arms to their beautiful home. I was always struck by Bob´s kindness and his love for his family. Bob would always take the time to ask catch up with me during my visits and remember small details about me. Bob and Linda always had a way of making me feel like an extension of their family. I´m heartbroken that a wonderful man had to leave this earth so soon. I have no doubt that he leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of many. I am honored to have had the opportunity to have gotten to know someone so generous and kind. My deepest condolences for the Foley family. I am with you all in spirit to celebrate the life of Bob of today.

I worked with Bob at 309 AMARG. He was a man of integrity and compassion. I adored him as well as your mom. As a man of faith, he is now sitting with Jesus. My condolences to each of you.

My heart aches for the loss of Bob.( AKA Mr. Foley.) We moved next door to Bob and Linda when I was a freshman in H.S. he helped me with my algebra, I would have never passed that class without him. As time went on, I met the man I would marry. Here was Bob and Linda, letting us have our small wedding in their yard... I believe Bob even built some stairs where I would walk up to my soon to be new husband. What a blessing we had in Bob,and Linda. I could write a book on how Lupe and I have been blessed by your family. RIP my dear Bob thank you, I know you have the rank of Angel, Because you already had that title on earth! Until we meet again. Love you.

First of all, I'm glad Uncle John sent me your Obituary so I can sign this memory. Also, I'm thankful that he introduced me to someone like
you when we were forming a country band. I'll never forget those 3 or 4 songs you wrote with "Riding the Red-eye" being one of my favorite songs to drum too. Never got to play enough golf with you but I really enjoyed the rounds of golf that we did play in Tucson.
Hi to Linda and the 3 boys
Love for ever, Ray & Paula

I was fortunate enough to call Bob my mentor, right hand man, and friend for the past 5 years. I knew him from a distance for much longer, but in these recent times I learned of who he really was. I used to tell him "thank you" so much that I feel he would get upset with me. I have never known another person to be as selfless, and genuine. The way he always spoke of his family, children, grandchildren, friends and especially Linda. I knew he was truly one of a kind. Thank you Bob, for being there for me through some of the toughest points in my life. For never making me feel like I was less than you. And for always taking my call. My family and I miss you dearly.

UB, My heart is so heavy as I write this, I can´t begin to express everything I´m going to miss about you. I´ll miss the hundreds of hours we spent playing music together over the past 50 years, the golf, the laughter and the sometimes deep conversations. Bobby, you are the nicest man I have ever known and it has been my pleasure to call you my Brother.

The Foley name motto from 1100 AD is " That I be of Help " !!
Bob encompassed this Foley motto with his whole being with complete integrity his whole life ! It came down through the ages and landed square on Bob´s shoulders ! Selfless and with heart and sometimes with his dry humor he stepped up to the plate and always went the extra mile in my life !
It´s been an honor to know him for what seems a lifetime!
He will be sorely missed for who he was and what he brought to my life ! There are no goodbyes for me !!
