Vida Veronika Thomas

Longtime Tucson resident, Vida Veronika Thomas passed away on September 4th, while holding hands with her two daughters. Vida was born in Klaipeda, Lithuania in 1937 and came to America in 1948. She lived in Boston and earned a BS in Nursing from Boston College in 1959. After graduation, Vida worked at Boston City Hospital, where she met her future husband, Joseph Thomas Jr. MD. She and her family moved to Tucson in 1973. Vida's greatest joys were her grandchildren and art. She passionately served as a docent at the Tucson Museum of Art for over 30 years, providing tours, mentoring new trainees, and presenting outreach talks such as "Great Clothes and Great Art" and "Grant Wood and American Regionalism". She loved to bring her grandchildren to the museum, instilling in them a lifelong love of the arts. Her great insight and friendly demeanor will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Vida is survived by her sister, Daina Klimauskaite, her three children, Regina Wolff, Christopher Thomas, and Martha Thomas, and her grandchildren Caitlin Wolff, Dylan Wolff, Bryson Wolff, Desiree Hummeldorf, Stasha Prewitt and Seamus Thomas. A memorial service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Tucson Museum of Art Docent program 140 North Main Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85701 in honor of Vida Thomas would be appreciated.
