Virginia "Ginny" Marie (née Webb) Wing, age 86, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home September 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and amazing caregivers. Born September 27, 1938, in Chelan County, Washington, Ginny was the cherished daughter of the late Harold and Constance Elizabeth Webb.
Ginny was preceded in death by her son, Richard Allen Wing. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 68 years, Vernon Wing, and their children: Lucinda Wing (Brad Hartberg) of Tucson, Barbara Zwiener (Daniel) of Tucson, and Andrew Wing (Brandy) of Lewisville, N.C. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Pamela Hardin Wing of Alabama; 8 grandchildren: Johnny Fry, Jason Jeske, Kristine Jeske Miller, Meghan Wing Simmons, Derek and Nathan Zwiener, Madeline Wing Bowman, and Richard Alexander Wing; and 10 great-grandchildren. Ginny is also survived by her three loving sisters: Diane McCown, Ethel Lee, and Mary King, and her brother, David Webb.
Thanks to her father's mining career and Vernon's posts in the Air Force, she lived all across the U.S. and even in Turkey. But, despite her world travels, Ginny always felt most at home in the Southwest desert, where she and Vernon have lived since 2004. Before settling in Green Valley, they raised their four children in Iowa. Her grandchildren fondly remember the amazing vegetables and flowers she grew in her lush Iowa garden.
An accomplished artist, Ginny created an amazing body of work, including award-winning quilts and paintings of Iowa farms, barns, and desert landscapes. Her talent was proudly represented by The Feminine Mystique Art Gallery in Tubac. Ginny was a member of Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita. Before her illness, she was an active volunteer passionately supporting the environment and advocating for voting and women's rights. Ginny cherished the fun times she had with her family, traveling the world, and especially her outings with "the girls of '38" - a group of vibrant women who, coincidentally, were all born in 1938.
May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of faith, inclusion, and the Arts. Donations to Good Shepherd UCC, Emblem Hospice or Green Valley Animal League are gladly accepted.
