Daniel Fulkerson Obituary

FULKERSON - Daniel Lee, 75, was born on February 19, 1933 in Muskogee, OK. Dan passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Dan left high school early in 1951 to serve along side his brother Bill who had enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was discharged in 1952 and spent a few years in Denver with his brothers Bill and Jerry. His good friend Jim Patterson later joined them. They all returned to Tulsa and he attended the University of Tulsa where he pledged Sigma Nu fraternity and fell in love with the Golden Hurricanes. Dan loved going to TU football games and was a season ticket holder for 40 years. Whether winning by a landslide or being embarrassed at home, Dan was sure to stay until the final siren sounded, regardless of the weather. Dan loved the OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys just the same. Dan married his first wife, Evelyn Moss, in 1961. They had 2 children, Daniel Lee Fulkerson, II, and Juliana Fulkerson Jacobi. He began a career with Farmers Insurance in 1967 that spanned 40 years. He retired in January 2008, leaving countless friends and associates. He married Carolyn Morris in 1987 and the two were inseparable. Her 2 children, Kellie Morris Kelly and Chad Morris, loved him like a father. Dan and Carolyn were partners in business, life and love. Dan was widely loved by friends and family and the annual Fulkerson Camping Trip became an institution. He would regale the family with his stories and now the tradition will continue and we will tell stories of him. He loved gardening and always looked forward to spring. Dan was also an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America. Dan is survived by: his wife, Carolyn; daughters Juliana Jacobi and Kellie Kelly; sons, Daniel Fulkerson, II and Chad Morris; grandchildren, Mitchell Devin, Cheyenne Kelly, and Lilyana Danielle Fulkerson; godchildren, Stephanie and Saige Aryan and Chris Campbell. Our love for Dan started from the time he married my sister. His great sense of humor and easy-going attitude endeared him to us immediately. When we visited, his home was our home; or vice-versa.
While he will be greatly missed, we will always hold him in our hearts with fondest memories and love.
