David Johnson Obituary

David Eugene Johnson

August 12, 1947 - May 1, 2023

David Johnson was born on August 12, 1947, the son of Richard and Beth (Froning) Johnson in Lyons, Kansas. He was the oldest of three children.

Dave grew up on his family's farm working alongside his father. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University. He worked for General Motors, Cross Manufacturing and Braden Winch, retiring in 2012. He loved the farm throughout his life and helped manage his family's farm in his retirement.

Dave met and married the love of his life, Peggy, while in college. They married in 1968 and had two children, Laurie and Cheryl.

Dave could fix anything and loved "making sawdust" in his shop. He enjoyed spending time at Grand Lake, serving at First Christian Church, but above all, Dave loved spending time with his family.

Services will be held on Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m., at First Christian Church, 2602 S. Elm Pl., Broken Arrow, OK. In honor of Dave, please wear a blue plaid shirt to the services, pocket protector optional.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Johnson of the home; daughters, Cheryl Stone and husband, Greg Kamp of Oklahoma City, OK, Laurie Johnson and husband Jason of Papillion, Nebraska; grandchildren, Alice, Megan, George, Macy, Faith, Emma, Jessica, Isaiah; siblings, Adele Hillner, Mary White and husband, Grant.

Dave was a tremendous mentor to me when I worked at Braden winch. He was always eager to talk with me about any project I was working on and give me direction. Aside from being extremely knowledgeable he was kind, soft spoken, and very humble. I think of him often and always ask myself "what would Dave do?" when I have a difficult design problem to solve. I have missed working with him every day for the past 18 years I have been away from Braden. Dave was a great person who impacted everyone's life in a positive way. He will be missed by us all.

I loved Dave. I really admired and enjoyed how he kept things on the lighter side. His intelligence and skills helped us all.
I don't know what I would have done without his support when my dad (Dave's, step dad) died. His help and guidance cleaning out his shop got me through this difficult time.
I and everyone who was around him had a better life because he was in it.
