David Wehrenberg Obituary

David F. "Dave" Wehrenberg

Wehrenberg, David F ("Dave"), passed peacefully on November 4, 2022 at the age of 96 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born on July 9, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Henry and Bertha Wehrenberg. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy, stationed on the USS Carpelloti based in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended Valparaiso University and the University of Iowa, graduating with a business administration degree. While attending Valparaiso, he met Janet Rockey whom he married on November 25, 1950. Dave began his career with Tokheim Corporation in Fort Wayne, transferred to Seattle and later became District Sales Manager in Tulsa. He retired in 1987 but remained active playing tennis, traveling with Janet and spending time with family and friends. Dave was an active participant in the Asbury community for 48 years. His optimism, humor, values, generosity, love of family and friends, and kindness and goodness were a gift to all. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Janet; his children (Diane Wehrenberg, Karen Wackenhuth (Mike) and David Wehrenberg (Ellen); his grandchildren (Katie Dawson (Danny), Christy Tanusaputra (Joshua), Evan Marlow (Lisa) and Lyric Simmons); his precious great grandchildren (Henry and Bennett Dawson, and Judah Tanusaputra) and his sister, Joyce Geroff, of Naperville, Illinois.

A service to celebrate Dave's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 22 at Asbury Church, 6767 S Mingo Road, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dave's name can be made to Asbury Church or your favorite charity. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com

Dave was one of my Dad´s tennis buddies. John & I had the privilege of also knowing he and Janet at our church. Dave was one of the nicest men I´ve ever met. He should have written a book on "the nicest things to say to people". He had a since of humor and made everyone around him feel special. He kept in touch with my mother with phone calls and checking up on her, which was always appreciated. He always gave credit to Janet for all his kind gestures. We are going to miss this sweet man and we know that heaven received a special Angel! Our sympathy to the family and hugs to Janet! He was a blessing to our family!
