Harry Todd Obituary
Harry Wayne Todd, 85, a long-time resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away in Houston, Texas, on the afternoon of June 26, 2021. After several years of declining health related to advanced Parkinson's, Harry said goodbye to all six of his children and died peacefully at home with his wife, Aileen, by his side.
Harry was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on November 8, 1935, to father, Joseph Harold Todd and mother, Leola Marie Williams. After graduating from Ardmore High School, Harry attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor and Master of Geological Engineering. His parents and younger sister, Darla Jean Todd preceded him in death. Harry leaves behind his wife of fifty years, Aileen Todd; six children. Eric, Dana, Michael, Jason, Ian, and Allison; twelve grandchildren; and ten (soon to be eleven) great-grandchildren.
Harry was passionate about geology and science in general. He was well respected in the petroleum exploration community and enjoyed identifying rock formations, minerals, and fossils with his children and grandchildren. Harry was an avid lover of music, a patron of the arts, and Aileen's biggest fan. While he couldn't carry a tune, he supported any Todd family musical endeavors as the resident professional clapper.
An armchair philosopher and theologian, Harry enjoyed sharing ideas with his church men's groups and Sunday school classes. He was particularly fond of exploring the intersection of faith and science and believed the two were very compatible.
Harry always enjoyed the finer things in life and had quite a penchant for adventure and travel. In his younger years, Harry had a knack for scuba diving, cave spelunking, slaloming sports cars, and touring the world. He spent his recent years looking for bald eagle nests and bison, drinking good wine, playing cards, listening to classical music, and fawning over his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 17th, at 2pm at St. James Presbyterian Church at 11970 S. Elm St. in Jenks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Harry's memory to The Nature Conservancy https://support.nature.org
