Robert V. Cullison

Robert V. Cullison, a proud son of Turley, OK passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Bob was born December 22, 1936 In Turley to Georgia Lucille and O.G. "Cotton" Cullison and raised with his siblings, Ann (Cullison) Corley, Gene Cullison and Kenny Cullison. Bob married Francie Cranford of Skiatook, OK, in 1963 and together had two children. They were married 32 years.

Bob lived an interesting and full life to say the least. Star athlete, small businessman, a patriot-serving in the United States Marine Corp Reserves, politician, and all around good and decent man.

Attending Baylor University on a baseball scholarship, Bob graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Some of his fondest memories are the many reunions of "The PAW Bears"- members of his Baylor baseball team.

Elected to the Oklahoma House of Representative in November 1972 and later to the Oklahoma State Senate where he served as Chairman of several major committees before being elected by his collogues as President Pro Tempore for three terms. While serving in the senate, Bob passed landmark legislation, HB 1017, assuring Oklahoma children receive a quality education. As a legislator, this was Bob's finest hour. After leaving the senate, Bob served as a member of the Oklahoma Tax Commission and later served as Government Affairs Director of the Oklahoma Bankers Association.

Through It all, Bob was and remained a humble man. He enjoyed dogs, his friends, birds, old movies, seeing people succeed, Stan Musial, laughter and Ted Williams.

Bob was a resident of Afton, OK, and is survived by his children: daughter, Robin McMillian and her husband, Jeff of Stillwater and his son, Robert of Tulsa. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Ken; sister, Ann and numerous family members. Bob is also survived by his longtime, dear friend, Bernice Shedrick of Stillwater and her extended family.

Most of all, he loved his children.

At the request of Senator Cullison, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please watch an old movie, go to a baseball game and donate to your favorite charity.
