Stephanie McKay Obituary

McKAY - Stephanie Anne, As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage, now as always, Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or death. For to me, to live is Christ, to die is gain." "Only one life twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last", is how Stephanie Anne McKay, (Sam), lived her full and complete life. Her family loved her dearly, and she had many wonderful loving friends. She was a beautiful young lady, both inside and out, and lived life to the fullest (Philippians 1:20-21). Throughout her life, she had great faith in Jesus Christ, always under God's grace, certain of her eternal security. Sam was blessed with many gifts; she was a beautiful figure skater, a fabulous artist, a great student, loved to read, but struggled at volleyball! Stephanie was always happy to share her time to help others. Her family and friends will cherish their memories of her. She was given to us on February 24th, 1994, Dallas, TX. Stephanie McKay was promoted to Heaven on October 9th, 2008, Tulsa OK. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6767 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK. 918-492-1771. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at The Stephanie McKay Memorial Fund in her name through the Bank of Oklahoma. Sam's Prayer written the evening of Tuesday, October 7th, the night before the accident (as written) Dear Heavenly Father, Lord I thank you for sending your son to die for all of my sins. I ask Lord, that you please be with them. Please take care of them, and show them the way, because I'm more than sure that their just a bit lost. Please help them see what they can become, and what they can do. I pray for the Bible Study. They've decided to continue it, but I'm not sure if thats such a good idea. It seems to me that it's run its corse, and needs to call itself what it is, which is a fellowship. I pray for America. Please, please do whats best for us. Don't let Obama get into office. I don't think he has a clue. Pleas do whats best for us, and help me to accept it, what-ever it may be. Lord, I also prey for myself. I'm having trouble dedicating myself to studieing your word. Please give me that extra push of motivation to really get into your word. Lord I ask that you will help me get through this next year in a half. The freedom calls to me. It's taunting me. Well, maybe not quite that dramatic, but I do crave to be on the same level as my friends. This is a life long test, I know. Please help me pass and mature. I really want to be spiritually, as well as humanly mature. Please help me achieve this. In Jesus' name -- Amen Stephanie Anne McKay

McKay Family,

I did not have the pleasure of knowing your beauitful daughter and from everything I have read about her I really missed out on knowing a child that is as beauitiful on the inside as she is the out.

You were truley blessed to have had her in your life.

I hope you will find comfort in knowing she is an angel in heaven and is smiling down on you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

What an inspiration you are to so many! I did not know you personally, but you have had an effect on my life, by reading what others have said about you . May you rest in peace and may your family be comforted at this difficult time.

There are no words to describe how shocked I was last Wednesday morning when I first heard about the accident. I have no idea why, but as soon as I heard how serious it was , I kept thinking about something that happened not too long ago. I was at the rink, sitting next to Jan. Stephanie started giving Jan a hard time (jokingly) about something. I don't even remember what it was about. They exchanged witty little remarks back and forth for a couple minutes, before Stephanie headed back out toward the ice. As she walked away, she said something to Jan like, "Oh shut up." Without turning around, she immediately followed it up with, "I'm just kidding. You know I love you." Jan never even looked up, but said, "I know you are dear." Stephanie just kept walking, and out on the ice she went. Jan looked over at me and said, "She'd never say anything like that to me, unless she was kidding." After Stephanie got back out on the ice, she was practicing her "My Immortal" program. During practice, Stephanie would glance over at Jan and make goofy faces. Once it was over, I just smiled and thought about what a great relationship the two of them have. It also made me realize that I had never heard Stephanie be rude to anybody, and this includes her parents. For a teenage girl, that's almost unheard of. I have no idea why that moment stuck with me the way it has, but I want Jan and Mike to know that people really did notice what a great daughter you raised.
