Sunny Martin Obituary
Ms. Sunny Martin was born July 15, 1920 and passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, making her a proud member of the Oklahoma centenarians club.
A free spirit, Sunny struck out on her own as a teenager, eventually settling in Philadelphia, where she worked as a secretarial assistant in the coal industry. In the 1970s, she relocated to Tulsa "temporarily," and loved it so much she stayed for four decades. Sunny was physically active into her 90s, walking to and from work by day and ballroom dancing into the night. Though she claimed to dislike Italian family drama (she had changed her surname from "Martinelli" to "Martin"), she loved Italian operas, and regularly attended a variety of performances at the Tulsa PAC, where she volunteered as an usher. A good samaritan who worked to help victims of domestic abuse, she was also fond of secretly helping anyone in need through anonymous donations and gifts.
Though she had many dancing partners and more than one engagement, she never married, and she was proud to live independently until the last few years of her life. She was loved for her sense of humor and her brutal honesty, which were intertwined. To those looking for the secret of longevity, Sunny would probably have said it had something to do with seeing everything as it really was, and still having the guts to laugh at it.

The world could use many more people like Sunny, loving, generous and smart. Sunny had a knack for reading people, and knowing those people who really cared. I have prayed for Sunny for many years and now will pray for the repose of her beautiful soul, free as a bird Sunny, God´s speed.
