Thomas Quinn Obituary

QUINN - Thomas Joseph, 81, was born on April 8, 1926 in White Plains, NY at home to Thomas Joseph Quinn and Mollie (Duane) Quinn. He attended high school at White Plains High School, graduating in 1943. Tom attended St. John's University where he received his degree in Accounting in 1953 while working for Shell Oil Company in New York City. He met the love of his life Celina (Duncan) Quinn in 1953 at his best friends wedding. They were married in Scarsdale, NY on June 25, 1955, celebrating 52 years of wedded bliss. A promotion with Shell Oil led his family to Tulsa in 1963. Tom held a number of positions with Shell ultimately retiring as Supervisor of Purchasing in 1983 after 37 years of dedicated service. He and Celina have been members of St. Pius X Church for 44 years. Tom volunteered countless hours to St. Pius X Church, Meals on Wheels and other organizations including Shell Oil Employee groups over the years. He was an avid reader and Irish American History buff who never shied away from a conversation. Tom's Christmas and St. Patrick's Day's parties were legendary and enjoyed by all! His family will miss him but Tom's spirit and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ will live on through his children and grandchildren. He is survived by: his loving wife, Celina; 4 children, Patricia Gurley and her husband, Mark, Eileen Quinn, Celina White and her husband, Randle, Tom Quinn and his wife, Carol; 5 grandchildren, Patrick White, Katie Gurley, Mollie Gurley, Christine Quinn, and Tarra Quinn. The Rosary will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2007 at St. Pius X Chapel. Memorial Mass will be held at 11a.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 at St. Pius X Church with Monsignor Dorney, Father Mike Knipe and Deacon Kas Weigant officiating. The front porch of the Quinn house will not be the same without Tom sitting out there reading a book. We so enjoyed the stories he would tell us! He was a walking history book who would always wave to you and had a smile on his face! We'll miss seeing Tom and Celina out for their daily stroll.

To the Quinn family - what a great man you had in your life! We're so glad we had the opportunity to know him. He will be greatly missed as he was so loved by all who knew him. Our prayers are with all of you.
