Warren Adams Obituary

ADAMS -- Warren H., passed away Thursday, June 30, 2005. A graduate of Edison High School in 1965, he went on to become a Scholastic All-American linebacker at the University of Tulsa. Declining offers to West Point and later several pro football franchises, Warren founded Adams Petroleum Enterprise and spent several decades successfully exploring and drilling Eastern Oklahoma. Warren's passion for biology led him to become one of the midwest's most renowned Ichthyologists. His immense collection of freshwater specimens can still be viewed at OSU, where his collection is housed and studied by the graduate students. Warren was active in the Oklahoma Karate Association and was awarded his 6th degree black belt in 1995. Many Tulsans may remember him from the numerous football and baseball teams he coached. Warren's most joyous accomplishments were his 3 children, Lynn, Derrick, and Christopher to whom he was father, friend, coach, mentor, and best buddy. The last few years of his life were spent in the Alaskan wilderness as he pursued his life-long dream of becoming a mountain man. His road was filled with many glorious battles from the gridiron to grizzly bears. It could be said he lived three lifetimes in one; a man of many accomplishments who lived life by his own rules. He is survived by: his previously mentioned children; his siblings, Robert, Mary, and Paul; his grandchildren, Garrett, Gwenyeth, Ethan, and Isabella; and his loving wife and best friend, Carol. Warren, we thank you for letting us be part of your rich and wildly varied life. It was quite a ride. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Hospice of Mayes County, c/o Mayes County Medical Center, 111 N. Bailey, Pryor, OK.

I went to Paul Revere and Edison with Warren, but have not seen him in many, many years. I am currently involved in locating our lost classmates for our upcoming 40-year reunion and was very sad to learn of Warren's death. My prayers are with his family.

I knew Warren at Edison. We were both active in sports and I always enjoyed his friendship and dedication to sports; football, wrestling, and track. He loved the competition. I swam. (He had the biggest muscles in our class.)

I had hoped to see him at our 40th reunion this coming Labor Day weekend. This is very sad news and he will be missed. He was such a nice classmate and friend.

Our prayers are with all of his family.

He was a man of incredible focus and my very good friend. I have thought of him often over the years, I still will.
