Linnie Corley Obituary

COTTONDALE - Linnie Lawrence Corley, age 80, follower of Christ, also known as Minister Linnie or Sister Corley, one of God's humble faithful servants was ushered into her Savior's presence on March 17, 2018. Services will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park Chapel with visitation Tuesday March 20, 2018 at 6-8 p.m. and funeral on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Minister Keith Roberts, Jr., Rev. Tony Boyd, Rev. Ray Jones and Rev. James Haskins officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Willie J. Lawrence; sister, Lois Howard who passed away March 5, 2018; and grandson, Billy Stevenson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harry B. "Flywheel" Corley; her devoted children, Sheryl Meharg, Sharon Standifer (Jim), Shelia Britton, Forrest Wade Corley, and Daryl Corley (Luinda); foster children, Scott, Craig and Kristi Redford; niece, Kitty Price Clark; and other foster children; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie Boyd, Faye Caddell, and Ann Croft; brothers, Travis Glenn Lawrence, Billy Joe Lawrence and special daughter-in-law, Phyllis Corley. She leaves a host of cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Whitsett, Bobby Poe, Armando Martinez, Tim Mitchell, Tim White, JaCorey Sears and John Conner.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Anand Pandey her beloved cardiologist whom she simply adored and loved like a son; Nell Gallier and family, Lorette Harcrow, her faithful aide and friend, Mr. and Mrs. Armando Martinez, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Storey, David Walker, Ashley Ballentine, Amedysis Home Health, Curewell Medical Center and Joanna Bundrum, Tony and Dawn Key, Brookwood High Class of 1956, all former church members at Enterprise Baptist Church, and "to all the students that I mentored spiritually, emotionally, mentally or physically---I love you all. When I'm gone, on those off or bad days, remember what I might have taught you to overcome. I never really had monetary means to give to others but of my time and self; I feel I gave my all."
One the morning she passed away, she was giving wise words: "to my children and family and those I love, I want you to paint your life with the paintbrush of understanding." A proud moment was when she and her grandson graduated at same time for their GED. Our mama was a loving wife, prayer warrior extraordinaire, writer of poetry, adult teacher volunteer in GED program, a substitute teacher, a seamstress, artist, and church chauffer to many unchurched children and mentor to many. Her greatest desire "is that all of you know Jesus and will follow behind me to be with the Lord throughout eternity."
Our mama taught us early to roll up our sleeves, work besides her feeding the hungry; so in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to East Tuscaloosa Soup Bowl or First Community Church Breakfast Ministry in West End are appreciated.
Rest now, for your work here is done; your Master said "Well done, my good and faithful servant." We are forever tied to you mama with that invisible heart string called love.

A true testament of Gods presense on earth. Mama Corley was our human angel on earth - teaching us of grace, love, joy hope and the everlasting spirit. Just know you will live on in the hearts of your family and friends always. Such a priviledge to have you in my daughters and my life.
