Life gets so hard when you reach the end. This was probably true for my Dad during those last few days, but it wasn’t always. He had a long and interesting life with many memorable experiences, rewards and some setbacks. He was luckier than most men who came of age during World War II. He served his country with honor and for his services he will join his fellow comrades at Ft Snelling later this year. He faced his share of challenges, some he met, some he didn’t. And he was healthy to the end. He had a good life.
He was a good father to us kids who grew up in the house on Shady Lane. And yes I know that I am one of many siblings from a family that he had built before but couldn’t keep together. And I know that his actions had a profound effect on all of my brothers and sisters. But I also know that he is not the only man who ever made these kinds of mistakes and I hope for him that he is forgiven.
I want to say thanks to everyone who took time to visit my Dad in the hospital and especially those who spent several days there at his side. My Mom, Darlene, his wife of 45+ years, my sisters Fran and Kathy who showed remarkable forgiveness and love with their support and my brother Al who’s bravery and love shined in light of what he has gone through this year.
Old timers tell big stories. These stories are their way of passing on their legacy to the people they love. My Dad had some big stories. I hope you got a chance to hear a few, just not too many times.

Grandpa Gorr's "hey!" (hello) with double finger pointing, "bah" with a wave-off, and great, loud laugh will be missed so much! Much love and sympathy to all of the family. You are in my prayers for continued comfort during your time of grief.
Sincerely, Krista
