Bob GORR Obituary

Age 66 Died unexpectedly on July 9, 2021, doing what he loved most: upholstery. Although he was not with his family, he was lovingly cared for in his last moments by The Dinhams, and Bob's family is deeply appreciative for all they did. Bob grew up in White Bear Lake, MN. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army where he spent time in Texas and Korea. Upon returning from the Army, he married and had two children while living in Mahtomedi, MN. Bob later moved to the Detroit Lakes, MN area for a few years and then returned to the cities living the last few years in the Chisago City area. Bob was a skilled upholsterer, avid outdoorsman, hockey enthusiast, and had the greatest jokes (even if there were only 5 of them). Any free time outside of those interests was spent filling his insatiable desire to read historical fiction and watching the birds outside his window. Bob was a clown in the St. Paul Clown Club for many years and had wowed people since then with his ability to ride a unicycle while doing tricks most people could not do on two feet. He will be remembered by his children every time they hear a loon call, see an eagle fly, or watch a bonfire. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Alex Gorr and Francis Gorr (Smith). Bob leaves behind a son, who has every good quality of Bob, Sam (Susan) Gorr of Woodbury, MN, and daughter, who was his oldest child but always his 'Baby', Sarah (Travis) Bowers of Balsam Lake, WI. His children were the thing that kept him holding on through life's most challenging seasons, and his pride and joy. He had three beautiful granddaughters Ella and Olivia (Sarah), and Sloan (Sam). Bob is also leaving behind many siblings who supported him greatly through some difficult seasons of his life: Ken, Alan, Ron, Fran, Kathy and his best friend, his greatest supporter, and older brother Rick; and step-siblings, Mike, Barry, Wendy and Darin. Bob's celebration of life will be held at White Bear American Legion on Tuesday, July 20th (which would have been his 67th birthday) from 4-7pm. and there will be a small ceremony for the family at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting individuals to donate or volunteer with the Veterans Administration. You can find out more by going to https://www. volunteer.va.gov/apps/ VolunteerNow/

Another anniversary Bob. Time sure does fly, and not just when you´re having fun. I think about our lifetime of fun adventures every day, we truly lived. I´ll stop by today to pay my respects.

Two years brother. I miss ya. Just not the same without you. We shared the best times of our lives. Now it's just sit and reminisce. Gonna visit today, will stop by to say I haven't and I never will forget you.

While the outcome was not what we hoped for, it is apparent he was loved by so many and will be the source of many fond conversations.
It was nice to see your tribute to him, if we had had the time to talk more we would have discovered his love of historical books (mine is WWII) his sense of humor, and love of the outdoors. He liked seeing Deer Lake up close (not just from Hwy 8). The sunrise photo I took turned out to be so appropriate!
We'll most likely never meet you again, but he will not be forgotten. I wrote of him in our cabin journal along with the photos and there he will stay with us.
God Bless you all, Connie & Cal Dinham
