Gary and Mary,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I just heard about it now because I was out of town. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. Gary, I remember you sharing with me in the Oncology waiting room that Brad was witnessed to about Christ being his Savior and that he seemed to accept that grace in his life. Hopefully that gives you more peace knowing he is in heaven. May God's love and peace be with you both and your family.

I didnt know much about him and i only had him for seventh grade history, but from what i've heard; he's an inspiring and a fun teacher. The time i had him was one of my favorite seventh grade classes when he always had riddles for the classes to think and have a fun time after learning about history. Another thing that i enjoyed was hearing from him that he was waiting for awhile for my class to answer a history question until someone did and i remembered him saying that he was going to have a bad weekend if no one knew the answer. Remembering that time showed to me that Mr. Engen wanted to make sure his students are learning and that he will be disappointed in us if he didn't show how much knowledge we learned from him.

Gary and family,
I didn't know Brad but I know you Gary, and from what you've said of your son and from what I've read he must have had the best of examples in you and your wife. I'm with you in prayer today and my hope is that our Lord is holding you close. I know Brad is already in His arms.

7th grade, to break the ice on the very first day, Mr. Engen had me spray him with the "white board cleaner" ... Water. And run out of the room yelling like a crazy person. So I did it! So many great things to make learning fun. Great teacher, coach, and friend. Jared Anderson 2006 WBL grad.

Mr. Engen was my favorite teacher at Sunrise and my favorite homeroom teacher of all time. He was the kind of teacher everybody liked. He kicked me out of class once on the first week of school for basically nothing, he then came into the hallway and apologized and told me he had to kick someone out so the kids wouldn't think he was a pushover. He was a great man I'm just glad we all got to have an amazing and passionate teacher.

As coach you taught us the value of hardwork and what it means to be a true team, as a teacher you inspired us to follow our dreams and never be afraid to admit when we need help, as a person you showed us kindness and compassion. You are truely one of a kind and the world has a little less sunshine in it now that your light has passed from this world and onto heaven.

Mr. Engen was an incredible teacher and coach. It is tragic that he was taken so young; yet even in his short amount of time, he made an impact upon countless numbers of students. A man of that merit will surely not be forgotten.
