The best gift from you that I can think of is how you´ve helped me learn that tennis can be a life sport, even when there are times you may lose a match. You´ve helped me practice focus, good sportsmanship...and I´m still waiting to get picture back of getting to be around Michael Jordan because I didn´t know back then he even liked playing tennis lol... but he made time for us all and you helped with that. May you RIP, and I hope one day there´s more tennis courts and tennis scholarships named in your honor. Happy heavenly birthday.

Thank you for your reminders that Tennis is a lifelong sport and that anyone can play, no matter their color. Even though I never went pro...(ha), you helped me appreciate tennis fundamentals and that when you´re on a team, practice is important. Thank you for the rides you gave my brother and I to practices, and instilling in me that it´s good to be a humble tennis player with champion mentality. Happy heavenly birthday, may you continue to rest in perfect peace.

Mr. Greene taught me how to be a tennis champ off and on the courts. Humble reminding me that tennis is a lifetime sport, even if I didn´t become a pro. He was a great example of a community leader and coach. He is admired, missed and a blessing to the SPUD and USTA teams that I was lucky to be a part of.

Ernie was my tennis coach for well over ten years. Because I knew him as a young person growing up, I knew him as Mr. Greene. When I started playing tennis as an adult, Ernie would say, "Call me Ernie". As a youngster, we never were allowed to address our "elders" by their first name. Calling him Ernie was such a privilege and an honor. Knowing Ernie was also a privilege and an honor. He truly was a man of honor! He taught me so much, not only about the game of tennis, but of the game of life. He intertwined tennis strategies with life strategies believe it or not! Never will I ever forget this great man. He has left an impression in my soul that will endure long after I am gone, since I too will pass on his legacy to others. Edith, thank you so much for sharing your husband with us. My love, thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Margo, Virtis and Anne Lanier
