Dear Torbert Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Gene at United Hospital starting in 1978. I was a new grad, young and naive and he loved to give me a hard time. It was always a better day when Gene was working. Please accept my sympathy for your loss.

Torbie was a great friend and mentor to many of us that had the privilege of working with him over the years. He had a wonderful way of approaching and managing people that made you proud to be part of the team. He also had a wonderful way of seeing the humor in the most difficult of situations. Most of all, I am very grateful to have been invited to share a fishing boat in Canada with Torbie several years ago. I thought I knew lots about fishing but learned tons from Torbie that week also. My sincere condolence to his family and friends as he will be greatly missed.

I worked with Gene as a pharmacy tech many years ago at fairview southdale hospital. He was a good guy and taught me a lot. He also played a mean game of trivia when he would take our staff out once in awhile. I am sorry to hear about his passing. I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you.

I want to say thank you to Gene for the "grandkids" cabin trips in the summer (with my son, Jackson, and Gene and Janet's grandson, Reece) and also for being such a wonderful friend to my parents, Bonnie and Dave. Good times were had by all, and the memories will live on forever.

Gene was a friend as well a teacher for me. I enjoyed his company, wit, and his unique approach to problem solving. I will truly miss him.

I knew Gene a long time. He was my mentor. I as well as many others carry his legacy of professionalism and fun - distinct but each necessary. He made it a pleasure to go the extra mile.

Gene will greatly be missed! He was a great dad and gpa. I know that Reece, Bailey and Jack will never forget him. He was like a dad to my sister Abbie and she was lucky to have had him in her life.
