Don:
I just learned of Helen's passing this evening. I would certainly have attended the Mass and funeral if I had known earlier. I think back to the days at Great Northern, law School and the briefing syndicate at night law school (Bob, Sue, You and I) with fond nostalgia. Your marriage at which I shot a few rolls of 8mm movies. Followed by your stint with the Bureau and then sheriff. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I would love to get together some time and share some old memories and goofy tales of our younger years when we courted our future ladies. Enough for now.

Sincerely, John Markert

Dear Mark and family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your mother! And, yet, I pray that you know that she is at rest with the Lord, and that you are at peace! Your mother was my room mother when you were in my 3rd grade class at Fulton, and what an encouraging, uplifting presence she was! She even took time to write me notes telling me how much she appreciated whatever I did. I will treasure these and so many other memories of both your mother and you. God's peace be with you!

Although a time of mourning, the Lord has freed her from physical pain and discomfort.

Amy,

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Her positive attitude and strength through her pain and suffering was an inspiration to many and truly an example of what having faith in God really means. She is now at peace and enjoying her reward for the wonderful job she did as a wife, mother, and grandmother while here. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as I know you have lost not only your mom but your #1 friend in life. Your dedication to your mother throughout these difficult years was incredible--what an awesome daughter she had in you! May God guide you through this sad time, keep you strong and in time, may all of the great memories that you have of your mom bring a smile to your heart. Oh, and Amy, I'm sending a big "Hi" to your mom, but this time, from where she's at now, I know I can't possibly top the biggest "Hi" she'll send back from her place in heaven. :)

Love and Prayers,

Cheryl Janssen and family

Although I never met her, I knew Helen indirectly through Tom. Tom & I visit at least once a week at Lunds at 50th & France. I think among us long-time customers he may be the most-appreciated employee at the store. If you can tell a mother's qualities partly by knowing her kids, then Helen obviously was a terrific woman. My sympathies to the entire family.

What an inspiration Helen Ann was to all of us law enforcement families. She proudly supported Don and made everyone feel she really WAS glad to meet you at the many community events they went to together. No matter what her difficulty, she never complained -- preferring instead to share the latest about her family and always giving everyone such a brilliant, welcoming smile. She is now whole, complete, and in no pain. May you celebrate the many good times and memories over this difficult holiday season.

Amy - While we knew this day would arrive as your mom endured so much with such grace and strength, it still seems a shock that she's gone. Your mom will be remembered by so many. Just look at the family she created, shaped, and loved so dearly. She was blessed to have such a great daughter - you were always there for her and I know you wouldn't have had it any other way. Take care - we'll have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I looked forward to the birthday and Christmas cards from her and Don every year. It was so nice of them to remember.

Dear Don and the whole family.

We were so sad to learn that Helen Ann passed away. We would like to be there with you to pay the respect to the most wonderful person we know, - we loved Helen Ann so much.

It is difficult to be in Norway, - across the ocean, hours away - but our thoughts are with you.

We will always think of Helen Ann with her great humor, quick lines, and clear opinions. She was such a strong person - and always made us feel close to her. She had such a big heart and and was so wonderful to us.

She will keep the found memories of her forever.
