Sheriff Omodt and family, I have been out of the office and have just learned today of Helen Ann's passing. My sincere condolences are with you and your family, and at the same time I'm comforted knowing Helen Ann is experiencing peace and comfort. We were so sadden to learn that Helen Ann had died. She was such a great gal and will be deeply missed by so many.
We have so many fond memories of Sheriff's Office events and the stories of trips that the two of you took with Erna and Arnold. Your memories must be many, may they help you at this difficut time. You and the family are in our prayers during this time.

I just learned of Helen's passing this evening. I would certainly have attended the Mass and funeral if I had known earlier. I think back to the days at Great Northern, law School and the briefing syndicate at night law school (Bob, Sue, You and I) with fond nostalgia. Your marriage at which I shot a few rolls of 8mm movies. Followed by your stint with the Bureau and then sheriff. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I would love to get together some time and share some old memories and goofy tales of our younger years when we courted our future ladies. Enough for now.

Omodt Family: We are very sad to hear of the death of your mother/wife. She was a great lady and I have many fun memories while visiting the Omodt homestead. She truly taught us all the meaning of caring for others. Always quick with a laugh or helpful advice and time to listen. Although a time of mourning, the Lord has freed her from physical pain and discomfort.

Although I never met her, I knew Helen indirectly through Tom. Tom & I visit at least once a week at Lunds at 50th & France. I think among us long-time customers he may be the most-appreciated employee at the store. If you can tell a mother's qualities partly by knowing her kids, then Helen obviously was a terrific woman. My sympathies to the entire family.

What an inspiration Helen Ann was to all of us law enforcement families. She proudly supported Don and made everyone feel she really WAS glad to meet you at the many community events they went to together. No matter what her difficulty, she never complained -- preferring instead to share the latest about her family and always giving everyone such a brilliant, welcoming smile. She is now whole, complete, and in no pain. May you celebrate the many good times and memories over this difficult holiday season.

Helen was such an impressive person. Very strong and very loving. Just like your entire family during her illness.
I looked forward to the birthday and Christmas cards from her and Don every year. It was so nice of them to remember.
