Catrina, my dear Friend, you already know my prays go out to you and your girls, and step daughter. Javis was one of the sweetest person I knew. I remember when you, me and him flew to ATL and it was his first time. He was nervous but he still had that big smile on his face. The wedding you know that was the happiest time for us all, but Javis was the proudest Groom I ever seen. We had a good time and that is one wedding I will remember forever not only because it was nice but because you could see the love that you both had for each other. You and I talk recently and you know that Javis is with the Good Lord, you got confirmation! hold on to that he is still smiling down on us and trying to let us know he is ok, but he reached out from the heavens to let you know that you will see him again.

I Love you and your family.

RIP Javis and JJ.

I have many, many memories of Jay.. we shared some good times! We also shared a few sad times. But, one of the things I'll always cherish is that COOL!

You know whenever Javis was around, there was that coolness in the air.. not an act or "trying" to be cool, but that genuine, unconscious cool that was exemplified by Javis just being Javis! I could go into a few paragraphs about the COOL, but if you knew Javis, you already know exactly what I'm talking about (and you can envision the coolness in your mind right now). There was a definite reason we started calling him Cool Jay - way back in the day.

They just don't make COOL like Javis anymore. I'm gonna miss that!.. among other things. But, Jay I'll try to hold it down til I see you again homie. Love!!!

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14

I was very shocked and shaken when I heard the news about Javis and Javis Jr. Though I had known him and his family from the nieghborhood, one of my fondest memories of Javis was when he went to Como Park Senior High in the early 90s. I worked there as a teacher and he was always late to school. I decided to pick him up every morning to make sure he made it on time. He looked at me like I was crazy when I told him what I was going to do but he agreed. We had some ineteresting converstaions on those mornings. I learned a lot from him that year. Carolyn, Quanita, Bridgett, and the rest of the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Memories and feelings come to mind when we think of fathers wheather in person or if we are remembering the fathers who have passed. We bless fathers as being the love of God in expression to children...I witnessed this one day while eating out with my husband..Javis and his family sat in the next booth...over-hearing lite conversation and family talk,I knew this young brother was an excellent fatherand loved his children. That is a special memory...good memories. I am sure lil'Javis saw that in his father. May it comfort your family to know that faith is more than a belief..it is power. Keep that FAITH and be strong.

Wow this is such a tragedy I am truly sorry for the unbeliveable loss. When think of Javis I have memories of just moving to minnesota in 1984 and Javis would find something to tease me about. I could never get mad because he would make me laugh so hard.He really made being the new kid at school easy. These are the things we should all remember. and be at peace knowing he has gone to a better place
