Joseph HAINES Obituary

Age 72, of Stillwater Beloved Husband, Dad and Grandpa Joe passed away on September 22, 2023 peacefully, and exactly as he had hoped to: at home on his farm, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a man of many interests and talents. His generosity was extended to all who knew him, whether he shared a winning smile, sage advice, or an extravagant gift. His keen sense of humor, second only to his penchant for teasing, is something he will always be remembered for. He set the bar high as a husband, parent and employer, with endless depths of patience and knowledge to share. He always made room for people to be themselves and was hugely loved and respected for it. Joe loved traveling with Bonnie, building their many businesses together, spending time with family, hunting, playing cards and spending time outdoors. His variety of career experiences spanned the range from bar ownership to the Horse Boarding Stable he and his family built from the ground up, to the most recent being the tree removal business (BJ Haines Tree Service) as well as a few other stops in between. He will be deeply missed by those who survive him: his wife of 53 years, Bonnie; children, Michael (Abby), Cari (Anthony) Myhra; grandchildren, Anna, Sabrina, Oliver, Harvey, Teresa "Tt"; and his treasured fur babies: 3 mini Aussie doodles named Fern, Dutchie and Basil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rita; and his younger brother, Tim. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 11:00am at the family farm on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The family encourages anyone who knew Joe to attend this celebration no matter how recently they met him or how long since the last time they saw him. If their lives had been impacted by him in some way, or if they simply know the pain his family bears over his loss and want to show support, seeing just how many people his life touched will warm their hearts and all the sharing of stories and memories of his past will ease their sorrows as they mourn his loss and face a future that no longer includes him.

I have fond memories of Joe from the stables. He would always have a smile and a joke ready to tell me. One day while cleaning out my stall, a snowball came over the wall as I heard a snicker and the whir of his chair zipping by! What a character and a kind soul! He will definitely be missed by many. Many prayers for the Haines family and friends, whose lives were graced by knowing him.

I remember being very young and taking turns with other cousins riding around with him. Fighting over who got to go next. We thought he was the coolest guy ever! He always had the best smile and laugh and you couldn“t help but feel happy around him. Know that decades later, those memories have given me strength many times over. Our prayers are with you all. I know he will be greatly missed.
