Kate was a wise soul when it came to Girl Scouts. Her braided gray hair fascinated young girls at Scout gatherings. She once had some of us over at her apartment on Maryland for a cup of tea and some GS cookies we felt like royalty. Thanks Kate for sharing a piece of your life with us during our Girl Scout years.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother/grandmother/great-grandmother. It was because of Kate that I became so involved in Girl Scouts. She did my first training and she had so much energy and enthusiasm for the Girl Scout Organization that I became a leader. She was a great lady and she had the greatest personality.

I worked with Kate for a long time at Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley. She joins three other dear friends in heaven (members of the Chicago 7 group), Judy, Pat and Carol. I know they're all in heaven looking down on us. My prayers are with Kate's family. Phone calls were all I had with her in the last few years, she and I were not able to connect personally. A great, great lady who lived life to the fullest when she was able, she will be missed! I just hope I can be as adventurous as she was when I grow up!

Dearest DeLong Family
I am very sorry for the loss of your mom, the matriarch of the DeLong family. She was a rich woman. Rich in family, friends, intrests, and intellegence. Kate shared her wealth generously....often 2 cents at a time (and I loved her because she did). She was a grand lady that expected the best of you, and accepted lovingly what ever that was. I am grateful I had the opportuinty to know her and I will miss her steadfast personality.

Kate was a grand lady, a supporter of continuing education, the arts, and of course her beloved baseball. She was also a great mom. My heart goes out to the DeLong family during this time of sorrow.

Bishop Sheen once said that a Lady is a woman who makes it easy for a man to be a gentleman. Kate DeLong was a Lady in the true sense of the word.

My sympathy to your family. I have so many wonderful memories of your mom growing up on Jessamine Av. She could be so stern but also fun. Her threats to "cut the cord" on the TV, and she finally did it! Making us turn down that "boomity boom bang bang" music. Girl Scouts. Her birthday dinners were always great and gave us a chance to see each other. She was a great woman.
