Dear Family and Friends of Leo Stans,
You are in my thoughts and prayers all these years after the passing of Mr. Stans. I happened to come into two beautiful pieces of Leo's art yesterday and I rushed to the internet to learn about the works and the Artist...which is how I find myself here, writing now. I see that Mr. Stans passed only 2 months before my beloved Mother did. I thank you for sharing some memories and condolences here on the internet and I will print this page, along with the beautiful read I found here: https://opa.uchc.edu/Artists/LEOSTANS.pdf, and attach it to the back of each painting, so that any future owners will know how loved the Artist was in His life.
May the Lord Our God Have Mercy on Us All and Bless Us with His Grace.
Very Respectfully,
Tina Valle

O Lord,
the God of mercies,
grant unto the souls of Thy servants
the anniversary day of whose burial we are keeping,
a place of solace,
of peaceful rest,
of glorious light.

Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

"Dear Janet, Lea and Paul, I just wanted to add my voice to many others and say that I was so saddened to hear about Leo. My heart and prayers go out to you. I knew Leo way back in our highschool days when our families both went to the same Moravian church together. We even went through confirmation classes together. Since then I've followed his art career from a distance and was incredibly impressed with the beautiful pieces he created. We've all lost a good man, and you more than any of us will feel that loss the most." Murray Adam (Waconia)

Dear family: I found out about Leo passing away today at a Rotary meeting, I friend told the entire club about it.I was shocked because Leo and I were friends in college. We were in the college of forestry together and spent a lot of time together the last couple of years. What a great guy He was. We lost touch with one another after college. He taught me how to rip a thick phone in half in one move. It was amazing. I never could do it? He was a strong guy. Any I want you to know He was a great person, I had hoped to meet him again some time,And now I know it will be in heaven. God bless you, His family

Dear Janet, Paul and Lea We are so sad to hear of Leo's passing. Such a grand fella. He always had that small smile on his face that said, "I hear ya and I'm with you". May he be with us in all we do, might it be a visit from a Monarch butterfly or a beautiful Cardinal, perhaps a deer. We can still talk and laugh and comfort each other during those momentary visits. And may we see all the beauty in everything as clearly as Leo was able to. "Debbie Bomstad Frey" (Victoria, Mn)

I will miss Leo very much and I am thinking about his family. Leo was a close friend to my family since I was a baby. My dad and him won many golf tournaments together over the years. Leo's drives were incredible - straight as an arrow and would go forever!! I had the pleasure of being in his foresome many times for tournaments and he was always our "ringer". Such a great golfer...just a natural. Leo was kind to give me an art lesson when I was in college. We were in my basement looking out the window to the backyard and we painted the trees, lake and added in some birds. He shared some of his amazing techniques for texture and lighting. The lighting in his paintings is one of my favorite parts. I will miss him and am thinking of his family and friends. He is someone who has brought beauty into so many lives through his art...a very selfless thing to do. We need more people like him in the world. It's a very rare thing.

Dear family,
My deepest condolences at your loss. May your special memories bring you joy in your grief. I remember Leo because I babysat he and his younger sister. I also observed as he played with my brothers Timothy and Michael Koehnen in our old neighborhood. May God keep you in this time of sorrow.

I was heart broken to get the news today about my friend Leo
I will miss not talking with Leo and working with him on his many Art pieces
Leo and I printed many of his great art pieces together over the last 15 years and I always looked forward to when Leo would come in and we would be at press printing his pieces and all of the great stories he would tell when we were were adjusting color.
I view Leo as one of the great Artist Minnesota has had the opportunity to appreciate over the years.
His art is in many homes thoughout the midwest and we as a group have the pleasue to appreciate what Leo has done for us over the many years. I am fortunate to have share many memorable times with Leo and appreciate him as a great painter.I have so many great memories of Leo that I will always be thankful for Leo being a part of my life, and I his.
Leo Get your paint brushes out you have a lot of painting left to do in Heaven.
It is our loss that you left us so young in life and we can only imagine the many pieces of art and the many stories that have been taken from us. And that we will never have the oppotunity to share with you and appreciate you the Artist.
We all, that have known you will always remember your great smile and what we have learned from you being your friend.I am a richer man for having the pleasure of knowing you.
God Bless the family and all of Leos friends,we have lost a very cool guy.

I am sending this message of condolence to Leo´s immediate family. In this regard, I would like to share with you my thoughts. Leo´s creativity was always shared with all the kids in the neighborhood during the 50s and 60s in Victoria. He introduced us to activities such as agate and fossil collecting by leading on all types of natural adventures around the woods, lakes, swamps, streams and tracks in the area. His imagination lifted us all and I hope the memories you have lift you from this time of sorrow and difficulty. Leo has given us many very good memories.

I always considered Leo as one of my best childhood friends. As kids, Leo & I shared countless hours hunting, fishing, fly tying & golfing. We just hung out at each others house while no doubt driving our mothers crazy with boyhood ideas & enthusiam. Those were indeed the "good ole days" and I'll cherish those memories always.
