An angel in Heaven
Your work here was complete you passed all your tests, you served your community with Love and respect, you used your God given gift to help others, from new born on up
You encouraged us mothers during tough times reassuring us, we can do it, helping us a long the way.

I still remember a great tip Dr. Matt's gave me to stop my
big 10-lbs 1/4 oz baby to stop waking up for a bottle at 3 a.m. he was 4 months old and still waking up for a delicious bottle of formula, Dr . Matus said give him water instead and he'll stop waking up for it, LOL
it worked
Well, That's just one tip.
A big one at that time, yet thinking back on it, It still makes me smile.

Here it is 2022 now, you are not forgotten

Dr. Matus was one of a kind.. there is no other like him.. he will be remembered always by the parents and the children who saw him. He was patient and understanding,
he was wise and full of wisdom, not arrogant and rude, he was a good listener...
one of the best..

I only knew Dr. Matus when I was a young baby... but he saved my life. I was born with a condition called Hirschsprungs Disease... which went undiagnosed for at least 3 months, and nearly killed me. Our regular pediatrician didn't know what was wrong with me, but one time when my mother brought me to the ER, she met Dr. Matus, and he said "I think I might know what's wrong with him". He then ordered a biopsy of my intestines - and sure enough, he was right. After several surgeries, I was completely healed. He figured it out. He was a HUGE answer to prayer. I look forward to meeting him in Heaven someday. Thank you, and God bless you.

Dr. Matus was one of the best Pediatricians that St. Paul has ever known.

All 3 of my children were blessed to have him as their doctor... There should be a Dr. Matus for every child. He broke the mold.

He will be missed but forever remembered.

Dr. Matus was the doc for my daughters in the 70's and 80's. Yes, he was kind and gentle and listened as the others said. He was also a very skilled pediatrician. His ability to listen made him great at diagnosing. He trusted we parents could give him accurate information. He treated the historian with respect. He spoke with us personally on the phone when we needed him. Such a great man, so sad he couldn't live forever. Barbara Kroll

Shirlene & family, we are already in FL for the winter & were saddened to hear of Richard's passing. We would have liked to be there to express our sympathy in person & to say a final goodbye to him. We lived side by side for so many years but my best memory of Richard was passing him on his daily walks, eating his good apple! He was a sweet man & a very good neighbor, plus it sounds like he made a BIG difference in many children's lives. We will keep all of you in our prayers during these lonely days.
GOD BLESS YOU!

Dear Mrs. Matus,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Matus had the great gift of being very present to each of his many patients. Parents, if not always their children, were always willing to wait to see "their doctor" because once in the room it was just that family very much in his gentle care.
Peace and hope,
Cathy Edwards

Dear Mrs Matus and family, I had the pleasure of working with Dr Matus when the clinic was on Smith Ave. It was a very nurturing environment, as it was my first

Dr. Matus was pediatrician to my 5 children. He always listened to me as a mother. On our most memorable occasion, I met him at the hospital with one of my sons. He checked him over and said that he probably just had the flu. I said I was sure there was something else. To the annoyance of another of his coworkers, he did a spinal tap. It was Meningitis. Dr. Matus saved his life. I will never forget him.
