Richard Strom Obituary

Strom, Richard - Age 71 Of Nisswa, MN Died Sunday at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. Memorial services will be at 1 PM Saturday at the BRENNY FUNERAL CHAPEL OF BAXTER, Pastor Jim Almquist officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Richard Carl Strom was born on September 2, 1933, in Red Wing, MN, the son of Harry Carl and Mary Katherine (Thor) Strom. He grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Central High School in 1953. On March 28, he was united in marriage to his wife, Sandra, in Brainerd, MN. In 1995 the couple moved to their home near Nisswa. Richard was a retired Master Plumber and member of the St. Paul Plumbers Local 34, AFL-CIO, a lifetime member of the Nisswa American Legion, and also a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Carl and Mary; and 2 brothers, Harry Russell and Kenneth Strom. Richard is mourned in passing by his wife, Sandra of Nisswa; son, Timothy (Lolita) Strom of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Lisa (Tony) Meier of Lake City, MN, Heidi Wilson of Cannon Falls, MN, and Mary Beth Strom of Woodbury, MN; step-son, Christopher Blouin of Plymouth, MN; and a sister, Mary Lou Ista of Inver Grove Heights, MN; along with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714; American Cancer Society, Memorial/Donations 1-800-277-2345 or www.cancer.org; Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, Suite 120, 920 East 28th St., Mpls, MN 55407-9979; or to a charity of your choice.
