Annie and Mimi, I just learned of your dear Dad's passing tonight and am heartsick for your loss. I am so sorry I didn't know sooner as I would have been at the service. I was at dinner tonight with a new acquaintance who happened to be a "johnnie" and the Culligan connection came up. He assured me your dad's service was full of fun and fond memories. I will always cherish the watercolor that your dad painted for me and our memories together. Love always, Ann Plunkett

Dad,
It's been 3 months since your beautiful burial mass. I have written 2 haiku for you:
Loss
The dog left your side
Snow-tipped trees bowed their gray limbs
I bid you farewell
Grief
Grief flows from my heart
Yellow roses need pruning
Sweat and tears mingle
Love always, M.

Dad,
Yesterday marked day 60 of your hereafter and of my year after. Last Saturday, while walking Charlie around Lake Nokomis, I became aware of a crow, caw caw caw-ing. I looked up to see the crow getting right up in the face of an eagle. Majestic, calm, the eagle sat peacefully, looking me straight in the eye, undeterred by the crow's incessant shrieking. I know you are soaring on wings like eagles, and always watching over us. We all hold you in our hearts forever. Love M.

Hello Guv'nor,
It's been a month since your passing and I miss you more than ever. Mike Payton, Peter Gavin, and Jim Neher say hello. I have no doubt you are watching over us, as you always have. St Peter likely gave you a post at the Pearly Gates, to welcome all those who are called home. You took a piece of my heart with you, and you remain in my heart every moment of every hour of every day. Forever your loving daughter, Mimi.

Dear Nancy and family,
The loyal friendship between Bob and my Dad, enriched all our lives. I have a beautiful watercolor Bob did in '97 of the bluffs and Mississippi river, in Red Wing. I will cherish it always!
I am sorry, it is sad to lose someone we love so much, we can be grateful to believe in the promise of heaven.
You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Nancy and family - Bob introduced my mother, Mary Culligan, to my father, Dave Klein. They have been married sixty plus years. The children (9), grandchildren (37) and greatgrandchildren (16) and counting are now and always in his debt. He was always so thoughtful and kind. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Nancy and family - I've known Bob for most of my life, at least ever since we were young kids. We both lived on Iglehart Ave. in St. Paul and started St. Marks together. Bob and his family then moved to St. Lukes but we connected again when we both started at St. Thomas Academy. We were both on the swim and football teams. Nancy, you and Bob were married on the same day and time as Flo and I. We are all going to miss Bob very much and value his friendship over the years. We have one of Bob's paintings on our fireplace and cherish it. It will remind us of him every day. We will keep your family in our prayers.
Love to all, Al and Flo Markert

Nancy and Kids:
I first got to know Bob in 1933 when we were both students at St. Marks Grade School in Saint Paul. Bobs family moved to Summit and Chatsworth so he transfered to Saint Lukes. I lost track of him until 1942 when we both were freshmen at Saint Thomas Military Academy on the college campus on Summit Avenue in Saint Paul. We both Played Football and were on the Academy Swim Team.
It would take a book to tell you of the many events, adventures and mischief that occurred at STMA.
I missed Bob and Nancy's wedding because they were married on the same date at the same hour as my twin brother Al. Later on in the last 30+ years, Bob became a staunch supporter and active member of the Class of 46 of STMA. We met twice a year; once in the summer for a cruise on Bud Rooney's boat and again in the winter most often at T&C compliments of our mutual friend and 46er, Roger Foussard. It was through the 46 alumni events and gatherings that Bob and his old STMA classmates [Including the undersigned among many others]reconnected and stayed connected until just recently.
Remember the cliche: 'There is a time to Live, and there is a time to die'. Bob's time has come. So let the sadness be short lived, and the Joy of having known and loved Bob will remain forever.

Nancy and Family:
Back in the 40's one of the popular tunes of the day was, "Thanks for the Memories." Seldom a day passes without memories of the good times we had together . . . driving to 3M in that green Chevy , the lunches at the Criterion and Hafner's , the golf outings in Florida, Arizona, California and Yellow Lake.
Our family will never forget the "house switch" in 1974 that allowed us to see Europe while living at your house in Belgium.
I could share many more wonderful times but I'm going to keep them tucked away in a private corner of my memory that is reserved just for Bob.
To say Bob was the most unforgettable friend I ever had would be an understatement. I know he hears me when I say "Thanks for the Memories"

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your father. While I only met your father a few times I enjoyed him very much. The watercolor that he gave me in the 80's has been hanging in my various offices for the past 25 years.

Dear Nancy and all the Culligan Family,
May Bob now rest in peace and God bless him! He was always one of my favorite parents ! The great memories I have of him will never go away. Especially when we both were misbehaving - just enough to have more than a fun time and not get into too much trouble!
Love you all - look forward to seeing you. You are in our family prayers.

Dear Maggie and Rob, and the Culligan and King Families,
I was so sorry to hear of your great loss. From what you, Maggie, have shared with us at work, I know that you have all lost a loving and gifted man. I know even "Charlie" will miss him. I can appreciate your struggles and devoted care these past years, as you well know, Maggie, that I am coping with my husband's Alzheimers. God bless you for all you have done for your parents. I will keep your father, and your mother and the Culligan/King families in my thoughts and prayer.
God's peace be with you.

I will always remember Bob for two reasons: I remember when Bob and Nancy use to come play poker at my parents home on Eleanor and stay until the wee hours. My other remembrance is from Bob's art and going to the art crawl and seeing his studio. We have 4 paintings of Bob's in our home, so he will always be with us.

Maggie,
Even though I didn't know your dad personally (loved meeting him at the Christmas party) I felt I knew him through you. I loved hearing all about your wonderful relationship and what a great dad he was. Not a surprise with what an amazing daughter he had in you. My prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time and that you get peace in knowing he is in God's care now and has no pain.
Love you Maggie!
