Thomas J. "Tom" ARTH

Age 78 Passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023 after a long battle with cancer and chronic pain. Preceded in death by parents Violet (Meyer) and Leonard; and sister Shirley (Lyle Loeding). Survived by sister Jeanne; son Craig and wife Jaime; daughter Katie and husband Scott (Sanchez); granddaughter Violet Sanchez; beloved canine companion Johnnie; 6 nieces and nephews; and many good friends. Tom was a 1962 graduate of Cretin High School and a 1966 graduate of St. John's University. He was a lifelong ambassador for SJU, helping to recruit many students, serving on several boards and helping to fundraise for many buildings and upgrades on campus. He was inducted into the J Club Hall of Honor in 2019 as a Distinguished Service Award Recipient. He played and coached tennis at SJU and was also the student manager of the basketball team. After graduation he was an avid golfer and worked for 30 years as a chemist at 3M. His services will be held Saturday, October 28 at 9am at the St. John's Abbey Church in Collegeville with interment following. Tom requested everyone wear red or SJU apparel, and stay for the football game after his services.
