Vic will live on in each of us who continue to do the things that were important to him. Every Polar Plunge, training event, Twin Cities Marathon, Forest Lake Fourth of July parade, we will remember him and the service he gave to the community for so many years.
A thought that has given me comfort is "Sometimes God calms the storm, Sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms his child instead." Prayers to his family and Judy.

As a very close friend of the family, i will truely miss Vic, he was always a very interesting person with all his life creations and accomplishments. He was without a doubt the smartest person I knew and a great influence in my life. Vic taught me First Aid and got me interested in volunteering for the St Paul Red Cross years ago. I remember the days as a kid when he would tell us to not say a peep while Hogans Heroes was on TV. I will miss you Vic!!

I first met Vic thru Trish (Pantzar) Baumann but was able to enjoy his laughter and humor on a more personal level when we all lived on Fry St. I have a short saying that is called the
"Fisherman's Prayer" and it reminds me so much of Vic and his love of fishing. It goes like this " God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day, And when my final cast is made, I most humbly pray, When in the Lord's Landing Net I am peacefully asleep, That in His Mercy, I may be judged "Good Enough To Keep". He loved his family very much-and I am truely sorry that they will no longer have him in their lives-but he will go on in their stories, their children and grand-children's faces, their prayers, thoughts and most of all their hearts. Love to you all.

I just heard the news and am sorry that I wasn't able to be with you today. Vic was an intergral part of the creation of the St. Paul Red Cross First Aid Team over 30 years ago. I enjoyed working with him in the 80's. The Team is stronger than ever and continues to provide first aid services at the State Fair, Xcel Center, and numerous other community events. The team members are grateful for Vic's vision of this team and for the many years of service to the American Red Cross and to this community. It was a privilege to have known him.

Vic touched many lives and helped many people during his over 20 years of service with Falcon Heights Fire Dept and 20 years with Ramsey County Emergency Services. He was always ready to volunteer his time. He will be missed.

To the Family and Friends of Victor Vainovskis
In this time of loss and sadness, may your heart be filled with memories of love.
Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

My deepest of sympathies to all of you in Minnesota. Even though we live far apart, my love for Vic and all his family has never dwindled - it just keeps growing. Loosing my only brother is still hard to comprehend, but his memory (and especially that wonderful smile) will live on in me, my children and my grandchildren.
With much sadness,
Maija
