CONNIE DUNCAN Obituary

CONNIE RENEE BASTIAN DUNCAN Connie Renee Bastian Duncan passed from this life peacefully on May 21, 2024, at the age of 85. Connie was born September 25, 1938, to Virgie Marie Marx and Wesley Soren Bastian in Roosevelt, Utah. At the age of nine, they moved to their Neola ranch. She graduated from Union High School, where she participated in Pep Club, FHA, and FFA. Connie married her high school sweetheart, McNeil Jr Duncan, on September 24, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Provo until Neil finished school at BYU and then returned to Roosevelt. During this time, she worked at First Security Bank, both in Roosevelt and Provo. When back in Roosevelt, she enjoyed being involved in the Socialette Club and UBIC pageant festivities. In time, they had three children: Cathy, Vicki, and Kevin. In 1980, Connie and Neil moved back to Provo to shorten Neil's commute time. Connie lived to care for her family and to serve others. Taking the family out to eat and shopping were some of her favorite pastimes. She took pride in maintaining a beautiful home, which was the gathering place for holidays, birthdays, and Friday night pizza. Her grandchildren benefited from her proficient sewing skills and always had the best Halloween costumes at school. She helped with raising her grandchildren and always gave 110% to her callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After her stroke in 2011, Connie continued to be an example of loving-kindness. When her daily activities became limited, she still looked for ways to care for people. She wrote notes, saved coupons she thought you might like, and told jokes to make you smile. And she never forgot a birthday. Connie is survived by her husband, McNeil Jr Duncan; her three children and their families: Cathy Gatenby, Vicki (Jeff) Groesbeck, and Kevin Duncan; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Brough. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Coleen Gardner, and brothers, Elvin, Keith, and Gordon Bastian. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeridge 5th Ward building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 950 South 50 East, Orem, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
