Melvin Redcap Obituary
He was born Jan. 10, 1987, in Roosevelt, to Alexis Torrie Nephi and Melvin Ray Redcap, Sr. Melvin married Terhra Adair Bryant on Nov. 3, 2006, in Ft. Duchesne.
Melvin was a very good father and loving husband who adored his family very much. He loved to go on family road trips and barbeques, visiting with his family and friends, and especially watching his daughter dance-she made him proud. He enjoyed drawing, riding his 4-wheeler, hunting, fishing with his children, and attending Pow Wows. He would often help build the corrals for the Sundances and the Bear Dances. He will be remembered as a protector and a strength for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Terhra; his daughter, Araiah Vaughniee, twin sons, Alex and Alyn Redcap, all of Ft. Duchesne; his most favorite nephew, Caisen Appawoo, mother, Alexis Torrie Nephi, brothers, Carver Redcap, Lehi Nephi, both of Ft. Duchesne; father, Melvin (Nancy) Redcap, Sr.; sisters, Katherin Arhi, Ft. Duchesne; Raymia Redcap, Whiterocks; aunts and uncles, Kenneth Nez, Jackie Lee, both of Ft. Duchesne, Latisha Keyannie, Donna Mae Haman, Whiterocks; Robert (Michelle) Redcap, Ft. Washakie, Wyo., Raymond (Jessica) Cornpeach, Roger (Diane) Kochamp, Russell Cornpeach, all of Whiterocks; Merla Wopsock, Lana Wopsock, both of Ft. Duchesne; sisters and brothers, New Man Nephi, Rose Ann Jubal, Sun Myore, Carla (Adrian) Kowchee; Shermaine (Ryan) Redfoot, Ciana (Anthony) Appawoo, Fananda, Jordan, and Randon Nez, Treston Blackhair, Orie (Leeuz) Serawop, Lona (Luke) Thompson, Marty (Samantha) Nephi, Dustin (Jona) Nephi, Bobbie (Billy) Smallwood, Loni June (Alex) Nephi, Jasmine and Gertrude Tahguv, LaShawn and Derik Kochamp, Nathaniel Cornpeach, Gale and Karen Hannah, Benny Colorow, Anthony and Ronald Bow, Trina Redcap, Bobbie and Kelly Redcap, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Allena Tahguv Poowegup, his grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles and relatives.
Graveside services were held Aug. 27 at the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
