I worked for him as an LVN for about 8 years. He was a dedicated Dr. for sure. A wonderful boss. Always had a sense of humor and was truly loved by all his patients. He and Marlene were wonderful to my kids and all the kids at St. Mary's school. RIP Dr. Werra.

Saw to my Dad until the very end. You made several house visits, so compassionate positive friendly, shared experiences lodge gardening even days living in wisconsin. We all loved him. My thoughts with family, I'm sorry for your loss.

My husband and I knew Bob and Marlene through a shared love of plants, especially bulbs. We cherish all the hours we spent with them including spending time with them on a couple of trips to South Africa. He was so generous, sharing photos, bulbs, seeds, and introducing children to gardening. He could tell wonderful stories. Spending time with him always led to laughter. Both he and Marlene never missed an opportunity to take a flower photo, even if it meant lying on the ground to get the best shot. He will be missed by so many. Here's a photo from a South African trip in 2010.

I remember just arriving in Ukiah as a single Mom , and that first wk there my 3 yr old daughter was ill. My Mom took me to her Dr.'s office with my daughter. While he so gently examined her I asked by chance do you know anyone looking for a good LVN? Dr. Werra's response was , why do you know one? I said yes, me. He said you are hired! That was the beginning of a precious 7 yrs as his office nurse. Learned so much from him and Marlene both. He was so good to me and my kids. Patients loved him! RIP Dr. Werra. My condolences to the entire family.

I´m so sorry to hear of Dr. Werra´s passing. I worked with him as a family nurse practitioner in the 1990´s. He was a delight to work with. Wonderful sense of humor, kindness & care for his patients. I remember listening to him play the music in the office from Man from La Mancha (which he loved!). He wanted to be in that play as Don Quixote (one of his hero´s)! I had to tell him to turn the music down!! After 23 yrs as an FNP, so many things he taught me about caring for others, I had adopted. What a wonderful mentor he was. He will be missed.

To the Werras,
Marlene, Mike, Kathy, Chrissy, and Richie.
The Wilson Family is sending our love and condolences to each of you.
Your father was kind and considerate, and always had a smile. It feels as if he was a part of our family and a great friend to our father.
The memory of Dr. Werra that I hold dear was the night my father died. Mom was calling the doctor friends to let them know that he had passed. She didn´t want them to find out when they got to work in the morning.
It was 3:00am when Dr. Werra came through the door, walked straight to mom, gave her a hug and kiss and walked right back out the door. No words were spoken, just a friend showing true compassion.
He always had a smile that would light up his whole being. He was funny, caring, and always had time for a quick hello and "how are you doing?"
We found this picture of Dr. Werra and friends from 1967. Shown are (L-R) Dr. Werra, Dr.Zbitnov?, Dr. Wilson, Bob Sandelin, Pat Allinson (seated), Dr. Kroeger, Dr. Look, Dr.Massengill, Dr. Kraft, and Dr. Lapkass?

D. Werra exemplified how a good family physician dedicated to a community can develop the respect of that community over a lifetime. So many people have experienced his dedication and his life deserves every accolade he gets. I am so sorry that I cannot attend his service.

Dr Werra was on vacation when my mom went into labor with me. Throughout the years when we worked together he would often tease me and say that I would´ve "turned out better" had he delivered me. Will miss him dearly.

Dr. Werra was my mentor when I was with Hospice years ago and I cherished our coffee chats every Thursday morning. I dearly remember along with our work came lots of teasing and laughter. Over the years he became a precious friend and I will miss him terribly. My heart goes out to you and your family Marlene. You are in my prayers and may Bob rest in heavenly peace.
He was a wonderful man and I thought the world of him.

I didn´t know Dr Werra well, but I truly appreciated him when I was extremely ill one evening long ago, and he graciously allowed me to drop in at a moment´s notice to after hours care where he was the only doctor working.
He diagnosed me almost immediately (with a serious, but not fatal-if treated correctly- illness) and got me the proper treatment plan/medication to help me get through it.
I truly appreciated him, not only letting me come in so late to avoid going to the ER, but having the best attitude, and and even humor to lift my spirits and send me out the door knowing I was going to feel better eventually and recover fully.
That was probably 15 years ago and I´ve never forgotten it.
I´m sad to hear of his passing. I´m sending my condolences, love and prayers to all his family and friends during such a difficult time. May he rest in peace.
