Wilbur Schmit Obituary

Wilbur "Bill" LeRoy Schmit was born April 25, 1925 in Woonsocket, SD to Peter and Ida (Yotter) Schmit.

Bill was a WWII Veteran and lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.

Bill married Anna in 1948 in Sioux Falls, SD.

A few years later he started a salvage yard in Princeton. He would attend auctions, buy, sell and repair vehicles for 30 plus years. Bill also enjoyed playing cards and socializing with friends.

He had over 100 years of life experiences under his belt.

Survived by two daughters Bonnie Novakowski and Barb Lundeen of Princeton; daughters-in-law Paula (Erickson) Schmit, Pam Anderson, Debra Carlson and Susan Gerold; nine grandchildren Tara Novakowski, Matthew Novakowski, RaeAnn Lundeen, Tricia Gilman, Katrina Schmit, Justina Schmit, Josh (Nellie) Schmit, Scott (Crystal) Schmit, Joel (Nicole) Schmit; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Joan (Myron) and Margret Weniger.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Anna; sons Wilbur Schmit Jr. and Scott Schmit; son-in-law John Novakowski; grandsons Billy Joe Anderson and Weston Novakowski; sister Mary Smith and brothers Orvel, Peter, Rueben Schmit.

Bill will sadly be missed.
