UNION — Mr. Alex Chalmers Childers, 75, 202 Lowry St., formerly of Lockhart, passed away January 27, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Childers was born in Lockhart, Oct. 21, 1938, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Childers and Mabel Jeanette Childers Childers. He was retired from Milliken Co., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Childers is survived by his sister, Lillie Mae Childers Holmes of Chester; a friend, Tommy McGowan of the home; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, James Frank Childers.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. James Michael McGowan.
Visitation will be held at the cemetery immediately following the service.
The family will be at their respective homes.
