SALLY HOENES Obituary

Mrs. Sally Jo Hoenes passed quietly in Camarillo, CA on Friday, October 13, 2023. She was attended by family, and in the excellent care of her home and hospice caregivers. She was 84 1/2 years old.
Sally Jo was born to Ralph Edward Milhollin (1906-1980) and Helen Elva Wolf Milhollin (1905 -1996) in Indiana on March 22, 1939. She was the middle of three children. Sally's older sister, Sybil Ann Milhollin Bennett (1936 to 1983) and her younger brother, Daniel Max Milhollin (1940-2020) both preceded her in death.
Sally attended a boarding school - Indiana Academy - in Cicero, IN where she graduated in 1957. She earned an Associates Degree in Secretarial Arts from Emmanuel Missionary College in June of 1959, and married Russell L. Hoenes, Jr. of Otsego, MI on August 9, 1959. After completing medical School at Loma Linda University in 1963, Russell's internships, residencies and service in the United States Army took them to many places.
In 1970, the family moved west and settled in Sonora, CA. They resided there for 51 years. Sally was active in the Discover Life Seventh-day Adventist Church, the "Home and School Association" of Mother Lode Adventist Junior Academy, and the Women's Auxiliary at Sonora Medical Center (Adventist Health) where Russell worked as a Doctor Internal Medicine. They loved the community, and made so many friends through the years! She counted herself blessed.
Sally's husband of 49 years passed in Sonora in 2018. Sally is survived by her three children - Greg Hoenes and his wife Jill, of Glendale, CA; Kari Hoenes of Moorpark, CA, and Marcella Hutson of Reno, NV; and six grandchildren - Brennan Hoenes, Kayleigh Todo, Gryphon Limerick, Wren Dzonek, Reilly Todo and Reece Todo, and nephew Joseph Bennett.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held for her this coming Saturday, January 6, 2023 at 4:00 pm in the Discover Life Seventh-day Adventist Church.
