Allan Covey Obituary

DERRY - Allan W. Covey, 70, of Derry, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, after a period of declining health.He was born Aug. 2, 1945, in Haverhill, Mass., and was the son of the late Allan W. and Barbara M. (Hill) Covey. He was raised and educated in Lawrence, Mass., and had been a resident of Derry for the past 35 years.Mr. Covey served our country during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He was employed for more than 20 years as a shipper with Pacific Paper Co. of Lawrence and later as a school bus driver in Derry with Laidlaw Transportation. He was an avid cribbage player and lifetime member of the Alpine Club of Manchester. He also loved deep sea fishing and camping.Members of the family include his wife of 33 years, Sarah G. (Floyd) Covey; daughter, Cindy L. Mahoney and her husband, James; son, James L. Covey and his wife; Annie, son, Robert E. Elsmore; daughter, Terri-Anne Elsmore and her fiancé, Brian Carette, and daughter, Kimberly G. Elsmore; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Milyaro..

services: After cremation, the family is planning services for a later date. Anyone wishing to make memorial donations in his honor is invited to donate to the disabled veterans charity of his or her choice.
