Bruce Arthur Clattenburg Sr.

1943 - 2021

Bruce Arthur Clattenburg Sr. passed peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Aug. 11, 2021.

Born on March 6, 1943, to Warren J. and Marjorie (Sherburne) Clattenburg, Bruce attended Eastman School, Epsom School and graduated in 1962 from Pittsfield High School. Bruce worked as an auto mechanic for the State of N.H., then Huckins Chevrolet, until starting his own business, Pittsfield Auto Salvage, in the late 1960s. He expanded his business a number of times to include salvaging, demolition and Clattenburg Sales & Service.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia A. (Barton) Clattenburg, and he resided in Pittsfield for the duration.

Bruce was an avid ATVer, sports fan, fisherman, hunter and snowmobiler, however his passion was for racing. Bruce built, drove and owned numerous race cars, from the 1942 coupe, super modified, modified, pro stock, dirt modified and sprint cars. He raced on ice, asphalt and dirt up and down the East Coast. His accomplishments in racing included numerous feature wins to include Classic win at Star Speedway and Dirt Modified Championship at Legion Speedway. Bruce is a contributor to the North East Motorsports Museum in Loudon.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Barry J. Clattenburg. He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Pamela J. Clattenburg of Pittsfield, daughter Penny J. Sawyer and husband, Tom, of Ctr. Barnstead, son Bruce A. Clattenburg Jr. and wife, Jacqueline, of Pittsfield, daughter Jamie B. Brown and husband, Stephen, of Alton, one brother Mark W. Clattenburg and wife, Cheryl, of Pittsfield, his grandchildren Nathaniel Huse, Natasha Cole, Nadia Saucier, Nina Desrosiers, Karen Dow, Whiley Clattenburg, Mathew Clattenburg and Mason Brown, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, three nephews, one niece, two aunts and many cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. at their home, 28 Eaton Road, Pittsfield.
